Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

LOL - good catch. I wonder if Henry Ford knew that someone else made one of these prior to him doing it.

Exactly...my first thought was

Cars? There were cars in 1896?

Still...neat photo...and remarkable how unchanged Bowman managed to remain for so long.

Yes ..... the cars were the first thing I noticed after seeing the date ..... about 20 years off.

Yes, same here. Definitely twenty years off or so. Awesome photo though I can’t find the left fielder.

Those probably were cars imported. Ford just the first to mass produce... But after the civil war, horseless carriages started to become more popular. In fact, I think Ford developed a car in the 80's... So it's highly possible with the wealth in that area.

What's telling to me about it is Clemson fans are still the same 125 years later. Mixture of us non edumacated dirt diggers and the snoody alumni who think they're the only true Clemson fans.

Automobiles in 1896 were literally a horseless carriage. A couple of those look like Oakland’s, must have been a dealer nearby.

It is a great field! Lots of history and tradition have crossed that turf to bring honor to Clemson, in spite of the fact the guys lost the game that day, 20-13 to Furman. Must have been an exciting game to watch. Thank you for sharing.
