Hi all! Yesterday afternoon, my wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl! In 30 years when she’s allowed to start dating, I want to make sure the coots stay away.

Congrats on the beautiful baby! If she brings home a coot, just sit him down in your Clemson throne room with plenty of championship paraphernalia on the walls and give him the talk about what it means to be a winner, and you only let your daughter date winners. If he doesn't explode, melt, or say "if Spurrier hadn't left", he might be ok!

Congrats!
It is simple. You raise you daughter well, value education and hard work. Instill a sense of pride in one's self and community. Thus the coot problem will never happen.
Also, it helps if her favorite color is orange or purple, yells go tigers at the Duke neighbors, and growls at strangers in the grocery store. At least that is what my 2 going on 5 year old does.
And if all else fails, 12 gauge

Train up a child in the way she should go: and when she is old, she will not... date coots!

It's a moot point at my house. Both of my Tiger grad daughters married Tiger grads. Full disclosure, I married my Coot wife almost 4 decades ago. It has worked out nicely. She is a great Tiger fan, but unfortunately I still can't get her to pull against the Coots when they play other SEC teams, the Citadel, etc. I'm still working on that. My wife has a big heart and feels deeply for the less fortunate, those of limited mental capacity, etc--so I guess I'll excuse her above shortcoming. Her dad was a Coot too and was dismayed of my wife's conversion.

If the kids are grown up, and both are Clemson grads and mom still pulls for the coots when we play them, the daughters will understand dad nipping that relationship in the bud LOL!!!

Here's a story - My son's GF's Dad is a coot (good guy, but...). Met him at a college swim meet for first time (both son and GF are swimmers). Conversation moving along until we discussed where we went to school. Awkward silence !! haha

birdshot - and it works well for home defense too. Granted 00 buck works but I keep #6 bird with mine. Just as deadly up close, but less of a worry about balls traveling through and past with kids around....

Beautiful baby!!! Take her at a young age around where there are chicken coops, and school her on how nasty chickens are, and how much you dislike them, and especially chicken fans!!!

A 12 gauge shotgun. Let him know the first load is #8 bird shot. That's his warning shot, (be fair. Give him a running start). The other loads will be triple0 buck, and that's when you will be serious.
Beautiful little girl, by the way

What a beautiful baby! You are truly blessed. Just take her to Clemson games and show her what a wonderful place it is. Then take her to Columbia, particularly by the stadium, and she will see that it is not the atmosphere to which she has become accustomed. It should not be a problem after that.

Yep, just give her more than enough info to win every argument with a coot, and that friendship won't last long at all!!!
