I too thought it was absurd.
Until I talked to a guy I know who is in the Guard and was there. He said it wasn't a big deal, the garage was heated, and they've had to do much worse when training.
Not defending the food, but it's interesting your outrage. If your people (who you wanted to join and cheered on as they did it) hadn't stormed the Capitol, this wouldn't be necessary.
So actually, a lot of this blame falls on you--specifically--and others like you.
