Because they definitely give him plenty. It's pretty good when you can "mess up" that much and still be 15th in the country and in the Heisman discussion.

It does seem like Dabo jumps on him considerable. Doesn’t seem to do that to many others. Is this the reason why? Also, based on his current resume, it’s awesome to imagine what ETN will do once he gains that patience!

Dabo and Elliott both. Elliott focused on him as one of the reasons he could think of as to why we were starting slow on offense. And I'm all for improvement. Maybe he'll go from 3 TD's per game to 4 or 5.

Now when he’s pro he’ll probably say his high school instead of Clemson during the player introductions.

He needs to sit down and watch about 30 minutes of Le’Veon Bell. While an a$$hat, the man waits to find the holes.

It's like watching a video game the way he just picks his moments. ETN shows signs of that at times. Guess the coaches just see his real star potential.

He is young and growing

Remember last year as a freshman, He had his way with defenses in High School and just didn't know how to block or work with a team. Dabo and company have gone a long way in improving that and getting up his strength. This is just the next step in his development and like the blocking last year if calling him out publicly is what it takes then so be it. As the new saying goes "Dabo doesn't use players he develops them" Just think where he will be at a year from now.

He will be more patient and hitting holes as they open. The kid is one of the best we have had when speaking of how young he still is. If he stays through his senior season, he will be a good draft pick, and hopefully in the late round to get a good team bc RB's life span in the NFL is usually short lived especially for the ones playing behind a poor O line!!!

Personally speaking, I have been waiting for someone who explodes at the snap and hits the hole so quickly that the qb has to hurry in order to make the hand off. I don't like a tip toe type runner. Just my opinion...

IMO, the most successful RB's do have an explosive ability with quick feet and a strong upper and lower body, and our ET fits all above but, they do have to be patient and allow the O line to get the initial push when the ball is snapped, if they are to quick there isn't a hole to hit, nothing but a crowd of big ugly's fighting for position.

I think it’s interesting how Elliott said he needs to make sure and not mess Travis up and now they are sending mixed messages. I agree they need to think of ways to best use his ability to burst out of the backfield balanced with waiting on OL (mix it up). That ability is rare and it’s why he had over 8000 yards in HS (QB had to work hard to get him the ball). My assessment of the offense is still being formed. So far, it appears the offense is not diverse enough and that’s why we get bogged down trying to run. Do the other backs have the same lack of patience?????

Rewatched FSU and could swear Dabo told him to go faster

Took him out and looked like Dabo was saying "hit the hole faster". Put him back in the next play and he indeed hit the hole quickly for a big gain. Frankly, I think it depends on the opposition, the situation and the blocking scheme we're using at the time.

the hole was there, but he got there so fast he didn't have time to find it. I know on 3 or 4 plays, he was one gap away from the hole... hitting the holes on those plays would have been huge. He just needs for the game to slow down a little bit for him. He's a great talent.

Always, but there has to be a hole to hit. A 215 pound guy isn't going to move a 320 pound lineman that want's to bury him, that is done by another 300 plus pound lineman, and that is when hit the hole quick comes into play. And most RB's know the guys on his O line, and he know the ones that is most likely to create that hole he needs, and those hole will only be open for a spit second, and the RB has to act quick to get through!!!

Agree with you, I’d like to know if that is what Dabo was telling him. If so, sounds like mixed message.

that hit the LOS very quickly, preferably with a lead blocker, where ETN just explodes through and is off to the races. Whenever TL and ETN screw around in the backfield with hesitation or with that terrible delayed option pitch, we seem to handicap our efforts.

Much love for ETN. No matter how great we know someone is everyone is learning. He will get better at his craft. I hope they show him Sumo wrestlers to illustrate how a running back should pass block. Area is a small circle and use balance and hands. Never lunge, engage and use forearms shoulders and balance to control where they can or cannot go.
