So who would go to Bama were Saban to leave?

Would be an incredibly dumb move for Dabo at this point, so I dont see that happening. At this point, were Dabo to take that opening, it would mean Dabo is not who we all think he is and who he has represented himself to be. So, I dont think that is realistic for him...6 years ago, maybe, now...just dont see it.
But who would go there were Saban to leave? I think Bama would go for an NFL coach myself.

No way, Dabo would never get the control over the program at BAMA the way he does at Clemson

the only reason Saban went there was they promised to get out of the way.
Don't think Dabo would leave Clemson.

I know who it won't be - rhymes with "Shlabbo"
For what it's worth, I think Nick probably wants to pass Bear before he retires

He tells them no.
The only coach I could see going there is an NFL one.

Maybe Ed O? Leaving LSU worked out pretty well for someone else...

Bama likes a HC w/Bama ties either as player alum, or Bama asst. Coach.
Dabo would be their #1 choice and they would throw huge money his way. But, I would hope Dabo would say NO! Clemson would match the money if that is what it would take. Hopefully, that is not how Dabo rolls.
But, I could see BV taking the job and being offered. Again, that would be almost as bad as Dabo leaving.
NS will have big influence on who replaces him.
I would not want to follow him. Let someone else come in and fail to live up to his high bar, and then take the job after the bloom is off the Rose's.

My first guess is Kirby Smart.

well as Saban is at Bama. I'm not sure why he would leave. I'm also not convinced Bama would actually want him.

Agree with you. He's just someone that came to mind.
I think the possibilities are wide open. Saban is not likely to retire soon so discussing it now is kind of pointless IMO.

Nick throwing out that Citrus fruit at the end didn't look like someone ready to retire to me. Looked like he was having a good time finally.

I don’t think it would be any betrayal of who he said

he was or who we thought he was or anything like that. Most guys jump at the chance to coach at their alma mater, and he owes a lot to that program that gave him a chance and an education.
Having said that, I think it’s highly unlikely. Coaching-wise I don’t think he could get a much better situation than he has here as far as pay, facilities, fan support and administration support. I would have said it was much more likely right after the ‘16 Natty than now. He is the premier program for the time being so it would be a lateral move at best.
After his boys graduate and he’s won another Natty or two, I could see him possibly taking a stab at the NFL just for something different. However, I don’t think that’s likely either due to the lack of control that pro coaches have. Plus he’s seen what happened with the likes of Spurrier and Saban in the NFL.
I honestly believe he’ll either finish out completely here as a coach or maybe move eventually into some other capacity. He built this thing and is now reaping the rewards. You don’t walk away from something like that.

Number one, nobody with half a brain takes that job after Saban. That first guy always gets canned quickly. Number two, Dabo would not leave Clemson in the midst of a dynasty he has built.
Nuff said.

No reason to leave when you are competing for championships every year. Can’t get any bettee than that unless it’s money driven. He’s already set for life financially imo.

up. Prob won’t hear HC-in-waiting, but best option is to promote one of his protégés.

Bama will go after Dabo, Meyer and believe it or not Pruitt.
And for those saying Dabo wouldn’t take the job, you’re fooling yourselves. Stay woke.
