Maybe I get TOO into it?
Oct 31, 2016, 1:10 PM
|
|
Saturday night I'm watching the game while my wife is at the kitchen table with my 4 year old daughter and 9 month old son. Cook busts off his first long run and I yelled something akin to "COME ON!", and my son started crying bc I surprised him. My wife is like "it's just a game, you made the baby cry!" To which I responded by looking at my son and saying, "one day soon you'll understand..."
Anyone else care to share similar experiences?

You're never too old to stop learning. But you are sometimes too young to stay up until 10:30.

My 6 month old daughter never cries when I yell. She only fusses when the other team scores. I'm teaching her early.

I have taken my to games since they were 3 years old. Now my son is 15 and daughter 12 and they are diehards. I am about to have to ban my son from Tigerboard as taking too much time away from school work. My daughter looked at me when we were down 34-29 and said Dad, if we lose I am going to cry. she had to go hide in the bathroom for the NC State kick.
It is just a big family affair for us.

So I recently married into a non-football family

They are an awesome family and have religiously watched every Clemson game with me so far (BTW, we are 18-1 with them watching, so I'd say they are good luck).
Anyway, they laugh at me a bit because I tend to pace and talk to/at the TV. I'm not someone who can just sit on the couch and watch.
2 instances come to mind:
1) On Louisville's last play, I saw that Quick was pushed out a full yard short and yelled "No!". In my mind I meant "No, he didn't make it", and then collapsed on the ground smiling, but they couldn't see it. They were puzzled for a few seconds trying to figure out what had gone wrong in the moment. Pretty hilarious in hind sight, but I my nerves were completely shot.
2) Saturday night on the last FSU drive, I was full-voice screaming false start and one of our kids came running in from the back deck where she was hanging out with some friends to make the joke "So, was there a false start or something? Five yards, right?"
I'm training them up well

now I keep it cool usually an stew in silence if things are going bad. I only lost it in the FSU game on the pass interference on the last drive for them, i pounded the couch a few times. Probably would have scared a kid but I was alone so

Oh yes I have a 9 month old son as well. Happens about every Saturday. I just cannot help my excitement or anger. It is football he will learn.

After our sack to wrap up the game I walked out onto my balcony (I live in a condo) and started yelling yes! I'm pretty sure I may have pissed off some neighbors.

My son is 4 and gets so excited with me even though he has no idea what is going on. But still remember playing lsu 2012.he was only 2 months old. We made the game winning field goal as my wife was rocking him to sleep in the den with me. Needless to say I got in trouble. Screamed to the top of lungs.forgot they were in the room.lol

A fist pump is about as excitable as I ever get, especially over things out of my control. Don't know why, I guess that's from years of playing golf and hunting, where remaining calm and under control is important.
Plus I learned a long time ago that the people in the TV can't hear me.

I get really into the games as well. I havent broken anything yet but im always screaming and jumping around. My dogs usually leave the room when football is on. Kids have gotten to the point where they just holler with me from the other room whether they know whats going on or not. Passion cannot be tamed and im passionate about my Tigers. May give a heartattack one of these days but as long as we get the win im good.
