I was just reminiscing amidst all this excitement of the past few days, and I realized how much I still miss the voice of Jim Phillips! I sure wish he could have been with us Monday for the big show.It was such a sad day when he passed away.He will never be replaced in our program. I know you're up there smiling down on us Jim.We won the big one.RIP old friend.

Every player would have made Frank Howard happy to let them rub his rock.

If you remember Woo hoo mercy you are not remembering Jim Phillips. Jimmy Coggins (from Newberry) was the voice of the Tigers before Jim Phillips. He was known for Woo (or Yoo) who mercy.

The irony is he didn't get to call the 1982 Orange Bowl

Back then Mutual Radio had exclusive rights to that game. It was the most nervous he ever was at a game, as he didn't get to do what he always did. Couldn't smoke in the press box either, lol. It drive him nuts

Listening to the post of Don Munson calling the last 2

minutes of the game, I couldn't help but think back to all the games I listened to with your Dad as my eyes and ears, Striper . . .
I'd be in the garage with my Dad - piddling around doing some kinda fix-it or repair - in North Carolina - and it was listening to someone tell me about a magical place that had to be on another planet.
Don did a good job.
Your Dad is still missed.

I listened to Don's call of the last two minutes

that was posted in a thread yesterday and I agree, he did a good job. Only critique I had is Rodney needed to speak up more with commentary. You only heard him a few times in the 17 minutes of audio. But it was fun to listen too

Rodney always sounds like Richard Petty to me when he speaks. I like both. Just reminds me of him

that's who he is. Still think him on the sidelines with Eppley in the booth was the best team dad worked with. They had a great perspective being former QB's

I don't talk about it much

But I've been on here long enough many know. I'll chime in on threads like this, and it's always a blessing to see them after going on 14 years since his death.
Clemson people fondly remember there own. It's part of what makes the place special. That after a game he has zero ties to he still comes up. It's cool for me to see us old timers still reflect on those days when radio was such an important part of the game
