Question about game day protocol at Death Valley...

will Tiger Band horn players be allowed to open their spit valves during the game? This seems like a high COVID risk.

questions on the bored in a long time.
Can't wait to see the 15 different political rabbit trails THIS goes down.
To answer the awesome question posed - and I'll answer it with a question. Are we committed to doing everything possible to play a "complete" season of football ?
If so - Tiger Band horn players are going to have to learn to play with no spit. We are all making sacrifices - like willingly wearing masks all the time.
And until they learn to play with no spit, I would say they can't open the valves at all until after the game - where each member will do it in the privacy of their own home - with a mask on.
So the 3rd & 4th quarter is liable to sound like a Listerine commercial for the first few games.
Good question. Next ? ?

Aren't they wearing masks while playing?

I imagine the sound may be muted. But, since we are pumping in white noise, we may be OK.

Band Director Dr. Mark Spede has said that they will have either personal drip cups or absorption rags to gather the moisture.

Use socks from the kids section for the smaller horns but the tuba players may need a larger sock.
