Football Season Is Here

At least that's what we heard all weekend. Football has returned to the rustbelt. That would be the BIG10, 11, 12, 13 & 14, oh heck, just pick a number. So that makes it official. Pa. State, picked by the so called experts to be a contender for the national crown, met it's Waterloo in Indiana. Could they have been thinking about that school that has us in their gunsights for redemption? And Rutgers, who hasn't qualified for the Toilet Bowl in ages, takes Michigan State to the woodshed. At least the Maryland Terps played down to their expectations. I really didn't watch much of the BIG? matchups but just enough to make a biased opinion.
How about those Gamecocks? They defeated the Auburn Tigers and thought they were sky high. They were sky high in their hot air balloon in Baton Rouge but the LSU Tigers put a needle in their balloon and they came tumbling down. But hope prevails. They held the defending national champs to only 52 points. Just wait until next year !!!
And then there were the Clemson Tigers. If the Tigers can "sleep walk" through a game and win by 26 points just imagine what they could do when they are awake. It appears to me that when we play vanilla we always seem to spread chocolate all over the field. Many posters on this board predicted Clemson would crush the Orange, even with less than a average game performance. Apparently, some of the players must have read these posts believed many of our fans were seers and adopted the same attitude. In spite of all the negative comments, I saw lots of good things.
One thing we know for sure, we're going to get the best shot by every team we play. Notre Dame has been making plans during the entire season. This may come as a surprise but Clemson has been doing the same thing. It is no foregone conclusion we will face the Butternuts, but you can bet your sweet patootie they have us in their gun sights every minute of every day.
I ain't worried about Notre Dame this week. I'll let that worry kick in about 3:30 PM on Saturday. My worry at the moment is BC. If we don't take care of our work each week, we will be on this board acting like Gamecock posters.

I'm hoping for more competitive games this Saturday. A lot of the games last Saturday were snoozers.

AMEM! Your last statement sums up what I have been trying to preach all season long. Boston College is next, not Notre Dame.

Good summary. Till we get to the big games I do worry about us getting sloppy and expecting to recover. For example if you ignore the Citadel game we have given up a 56, 59, and 61 running play; a 42, 59 and 83 pass completion: 2 blocked field goals with one for a td, and a pick 6. Remember UVA put up 417 yds. I want to see us challenged and even if not act like we are. I suspect ND will be a 10-14 dog but dangerous and we will not be challenged again until ACC championship with NC or ND. I assume Dabo was a lot more concerned with the players than he was with the media.

plans for this game ever since Monsoon Night 2015. They are still trying to figure out how we made it rain only on their side of the field.
