Raleigh N&O writer's comment on Brad

Mar 3, 2015, 10:16 AM

Comment by sportswriter Joe Goglio in today's Raleigh News & Observer- "Clemson coach Brad Brownell is like another version of former Maryland coach Gary Williams; he doesn't need a ton of talent to beat you."

Is that b/c basketball relies more on coaching than baseball

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

Fire Gary Williams!!!.....oh, wait......nevermind.......***

Except Brad doesn't scream like a banshee and sweat through suit coats. Never liked Gary. He was just an obnoxious guy

The AD at NCSU didnt like him either...

Ran Williams off, bankrupted Maryland and now she is off and running in Raleigh.

I always felt just the opposite about Gary Williams ...

Mar 3, 2015, 11:07 AM

... I thought he looked brilliant when he had a ton of talent, but was a mediocre coach who suffered when he had average players.

He was at his best when his squad featured future NBA guys like as Joe Smith, Steve Francis, Juan Dixon, Steve Blake, Lonny Baxter, Terence Morris and Chris Wilcox, and Byron Mouton.

I would love to see how well Brad Brownell would do with players like that to work with.

You're too kind, half of those guys only sipped a cup of

coffee, if that...But they were fantastic college players

Exactly ... great college players good enough to sniff NBA

Mar 3, 2015, 3:42 PM

... at least.

Which separates them from 99% of the players that come to Clemson historically.

Then what's his reason for not beating more teams?***

"IDIOT POSTER OF THE MONTH SO FAR...GWP-- You have won IPM Award for your failure to completely comprehend a clear post & then choose to attack someone who points out your ignorance. While you are not yet in the same No Class Catagory as deRoberts, ClemTiger117 & Tigerdug23, you are getting closer to the Sewer Dwellers." - coachmac
