Memorial Stadium

Dec 24, 2017, 3:19 PM

Who wants to sit at the top of the upper deck and the add to that sitting on one end or the other and you can understand how those seats are empty except for the best games of the year.
If there was a second deck behind the hill with luxury boxes, all those seats would be sold every game and more revenue for the athletic department to make more improvements.
Can't get caught up in emotions and fall behind the arms race of college sports,

No go. The view from campus down onto the field is what makes it Death Valley. Ok, add seating along the Hill if they must but don’t mess with the view.

Peer down that hill at night. You will never want that view

here's Santa's gift for you this year.

The corners are empty because they are the least desirable seats and the price of each seat is about what it should be. Filling the stadium is not the best economic model for maximizing profits. See Econ 102.

The quickest way to fill those seats is to lower the price of tickets until they become a good deal. That has absolutely nothing to do with adding a new section.

If we reduce the prices of upper deck until they are so cheap people won't resist buying them. The problem with that is that a ton of revenue will be lost because of reduced seating prices. But that has nothing to do with building another section of seats in another area.

What is the goal, fill the seats or make the most money? If the goal is to fill the seats a reduction in prices is in order. If the goal is to make more money those corner seats will always be bare.

Any stadium which is filled on gameday is not maximizing profits.

Memorial Stadium ... the expansion was poorly designed, but

Dec 24, 2017, 5:05 PM

that's water under the bridge now.

Nothing can be done about it.

Those who designed our upper decks were not giving much thought to enjoyment of the game.

Total mammoth screw-up sort of like the way they originally desingned Littlejohn so that you couldn't see the baselines from the stands behind the basket.

Architects who were not sports fans is about the only explanation.
