I know Hootie is a Coot but...

what about other SC music artists?
I'm a long time Tiger fan. But being born and raised in the G'boro, NC area I missed out on a lot of Tiger trivia growing up. I just heard The Marshall Tucker Band on Pandora and it got me wondering... They were from SC, were they Tigers or Coots? Then I remembered Aaron Tippin is also from SC. So, help me out...
MTB and Aaron Tippin, Coots or Tigers?
Thanks, ST

The Marshall Tucker Band from Spartanburg, SC.... My (ex-)wife grew up with those guys in the Park Hills neighborhood when they were jammin' in the garage as "The Toy Factory" (for obvious reasons) before they hit it big time. My other (ex-)wife treated Toy in the local hospital after his motorcycle wreck. Strange times, but that band was one of the greatest ever.
Go Tigers!!!

in the early 70s. I've posted it before, probably in the Lounge. I went to Tanglewood Jr High with Ricky Godfrey, and Fresh Licks were all from Carolina HS but a couple years ahead of me. It was a big deal when they won the Battle of the Bands at Greenville Memorial Auditorium, we all went to support them. Marvin King was the lead guitarist and his son is Marcus King, who is doing very well now. Marvin's brothers Don & Ron King were in my class. They used to all jam in their garage on Folkstone St, located roughly between W Faris Rd and White Horse.
This article describes how these bands, including Marshall Tucker and Garfeel Ruff and others, used to swap members early on.

from Greenwood. Double Shot of My Baby's Love from the '60's but I am old. The band still plays with mostly the original guys' sons and they play Double Shot on Sirius XM oldies.

Of the eight original members, I know four of them (John McElrath, Carol Bledsoe, Fredie Pugh, and Jimmy Perkins) were Gamecocks.

player - Clemson fan - has the AirBnB treehouse in Walhalla (a GREAT place to stay for a night or 2).
Lead singer Bear is an bammer.
Bear's brother Bo - recently left the band - was a vocalist & guitarist and great song writer - he went to Clemson studying architecture for a year or 2. He is a Clemson guy.
You definitely need to check these guys out. Best band not a ton of people have heard of.
They wuz growed in Possum Kingdom - their Dad was a preacher.
