No Jaelyn Lay?

He was highly touted coming in.
Is he still learning the playbook? TE is a complex position in our offense.

Yeah. He is progressing and has a high ceiling, but Davis Allen is far ahead of him in the offense. Allen is ahead of Chalk now, too. I think Lay will be a good player, but he may be a late bloomer.

But for how big he is and athletic I wonder if moving him to tackle can help in the long run? If he can master playing a LT or RT for how big and athletic he is he’d be a MONSTER.

Agreed. Would love to see Lay at tackle. He has all the tools. Could make much more $$$ at the next level & we need more OL

He certainly was a high profile and rated player coming in. Did notice that he didn't get a lot of power 5 offers though - GA, Miami, Pitt, Ole Miss. He's a record for size regarding tight ends. I hope and believe he has a great career here.

Not directly related to Lay, but if you go through the roster it's amazing the names that have been left off of the depth chart.
This team may be short on experience at some positions but the talent and potential runs deeper than ever before.

Does the depth chart reflect players not available to play? We know from the presser that a couple players tested Virus positive last week so they won’t be playing due to quarantine.

Didn't Vic Beasley come in as a TE?

Or we put him at TE early in his career and it didn't work out? Obviously we saw what happened when he played the correct position for him; maybe Lay gets in the same boat and thrives as a tackle or DE/OLB. Who's to say?
