I think that's a great hire for them. May not pan out but what have they got to lose?

Mike Leach is a pretty good offensive coach...

but he defenses generally tend to suck.
That apparently ingrained in him from his days in the Big XII and Pac 12.

IDK, it is kinda hard to recruit a defense to Texas Tech or worse, Washington State (which is only slightly better than the Coots with a dictionary).
Put him in a defensively minded player area and then give him Texas QB access, Jimbo Fisher might be a little worried.

Yeah but normally coaches at MSU have a career AFTER they leave. Coot coaches have their careers snuffed.

Miss St got to be ranked in the top 4 of the CFP early polls in 2014. Something the coots will never, ever sniff.

I don't think he can make Miss St successful, but hopefully he will create a good enough offense to upset one of the top teams in the conference each year and throw a wrench into things when the end of the season comes.

I like it. Hope he can fit in. Starkville is sorta conservative......like circa 1680 Pennsylvania Quaker conservative.

He's more conservative than anybody in Starkville. Let that settle in a bit. . . .

Leach will be successful. He will recruit a decent defensive coordinator. Starkville isn’t the ideal location to build a perennial powerhouse. However he will make it where they average 7-8 wins a year. If he’s there 10 years he would have two years where they win 6, two years where they win 9, and six years where they win 7-8 games. That’s his track record in a nutshell. But no SEC gets 10 years averaging seven wins. So it’ll be 4-6 years and then he’s gone to retirement.
