To answer your question, Mercedes by a nose.

Have owned em all and just got another Audi, but no one is making off the wall stuff like the G500 4x4 squared.
Would have trouble deciding between a new RS6 avant or E63 wagon were money no object though.
Was the biggest BMW fan you’ve ever seen but that ended in the mid 2000’s when they lost their way and started worrying about Lexus too much.

We will need a car next year. She is looking @ an Audi. I would prefer her buy an American car. It that is what she want then she will get one. I would like her to buy another Hemi charger or challenger but its up to her. eyes be a Truck person. Have a dodge 4 door 4x4 with the 6.4 Hemi. I like the cummings diesel but prefer a gas powered vehicle. My brother has a Chevy 4 door 4X4 with the 6.2 gas motor. We just would rather have the gas powered than a diesel.

You do any towing?

Had a Cayenne V8 and a Q7 TDI and both of them were better tow vehicles than a Suburban I had. That TDI was just a torque machine.

I know a couple of people with them but I am still a big three guy. I tow with my truck which I drive, the car-suv is for the wife. I would rather her get a charger or challenger but its her choice.

The Charger and Challenger are based on a 2000's era Mercedes E-class chassis. Maybe if you tell her that it'll be the compromise you need.

BMW. The M2 is the most fun car I’ve driven in a long time. Reminded me of what M3s used to be, before they got all fat.

If I were only going to keep the car for a few years it would be Audi. If I were keeping it maybe 10 years it would be Mercedes for sure. The leather quality of a Benz is way better than BMW or Audi, so are the engines. The leather in BMW's falls apart after a bit.

Depends on the trims
Dec 5, 2020, 10:11 AM
|
|
Quite often what people think is leather on a BMW or Merc is vinyl. BMW calls it “leatherette” and Merc calls it “MB Tex”. Both are garbage nowadays due to biodegradability mandates. The mb Tex from a 1980s Merc will still be looking good when we are dead and gone.
After that, it depends on the model and trim. BMW’s Dakota leather is worse than anything Merc has, but their Montana leather is pretty equal. On both cars the Napa leather option is fantastic.

Z4 from 15 years ago still my favorite that I owned.
Now with wife and kids, I’ve driven 5-series for past 10 years. 2008 model was a bunch of fun. The newer one is pretty boring but has a bunch of bells and whistles.
Might shop around more next time. The new 5s are comfy but not as fun
