What website(s) do you recommend for trying to determine the value of a used car? For example, if TOTE1 was selling his 2003 Mazda Miata with 22k miles on it for $7 and that's all the info I have other than it being in photog condition, how do you experts determine if it's worth more than 7 or less than 7? This is really the only question I have, but now that I have your attention I'll take this opportunity to ask you to post tiddies ITT as well.

I typically check several different sites and do a loose average of the results. You can use a couple car appraisal sites and also check Autotrader or a similar marketplace to see actual asking prices. Trade-in values have significant variance from dealership to dealership, so if you get a trade-in appraisal you don't like, keep shopping around.

went to all the sites and got around $18k to $20k range, including just looking for other cars for sale.
Then went to Carmax and got a price as if I were selling, they offered me $15k for the car that we were going to buy. Offered the seller $14k and they took $14.5.
Probably doesn't help, but fun facts.

most of these car dealers can't move very much on price anyways. And most are on the up and up.
Just trust them.
