Hugh Freeze agrees to contract extension at Liberty

Nov 11, 2020, 3:42 PM

Multiple outlets are reporting that Hugh Freeze has agreed to a contract extension at Liberty.

The contract extension takes Freeze through the 2026 season with the Flames.

Dating back to last season, Freeze has led the Liberty program to nine straight wins and they’re coming off arguable the biggest win in program history – a 38-35 win over Virginia Tech last weekend.

You blame him to do anything possible to stay out of that cesspool? I would have agreed to a 5 cent raise to stay out of that joint.

I'd have took at 5 cent pay cut rather than go to Cootville

This doesn't take Hugh Freeze off the table for the Coots. It just raises his price.

This contract extension doesn't amount to a hill of beans

Because Freeze is still leaving after the season.

For many obvious reasons, the Liberty football program is going downhill from here. Why would he stick around for that while his value is high right now?

What the extension does is quiet down some of the talk about him leaving and allows Freeze to finish their season with less distraction. They will end up 10-1 or 11-0 depending if they win at NC State.

He is a goner! Window dressing is still window dressing.

The question becomes who wants to take the risk of hiring him. Doesn't have the best of reputations. Can't imagine Liberty has the money to keep him. Michigan maybe? Cappin khakis may available for the cluckers though.

Michigan and any other B1G school won't give him the time of day.

Maybe the Big 12 or SEC.
