FPI is their clickbait and hot take machine. And it's more wrong than right. I could literally make better predictions by flipping a coin.

You're probably wrong either way, but very, very wrong if you are talking straight up.

EDIT: I agree that ESPN's playoff predictor is garbage though. I'm not sure what the inputs are, but they clearly don't value the same criteria as the CFP committee.

The FPI is actually not bad as long as you take it for what it is - a predictive model - rather than a resume ranking. FPI and SP+ are both predictive models which are just power rankings and primarily focused on who would beat who. They aren't really concerned with W-L records or head to head results which is what drives most fans (who generally don't understand them) batty.
