"Clemson's Waking Nightmare"

A friend posted this on facebook the other day, and it's a fantastic read.
https://thoughtfulgamecock.wordpress.com/2011/06/04/clemsons-waking-nightmare/
It contains such amazing tidbits as:
"Clemson football, as it relates to the University of South Carolina, has hit a bit of a slump"
"Clemson’s fall from grace has a little bit to do with their overheated approach to the rivalry with Carolina, a little bit to do with the overblown expectations of a fan base that still expects its’ program to churn out national championships like a Southern Cal or an Alabama or a Miami, despite having won only one title (and that one was thirty years ago)..."
"Swinney’s hype continues: Taj Boyd has suddenly become a next level QB, the incoming recruiting class will immediately contribute in ways that will allow Clemson to compete for the ACC title, and Dabo has hired various “small school” assistants that will return Clemson to its days of glory. Nobody outside of Pickens County believes any of this, of course, but Dabo keeps saying it and the fans keep buying it."
And my favorite: "One wonders how Clemson’s football season will go. I predict another 6-6 affair, which will drop the jaws of the Clemson faithful, and result in a plaintive wail of agony. I predict Swinneys hot seat will glow incandescently. I predict the hype machine will crank up again, before the season is even complete, and we will hear a lot about the talent of the freshmen and how close Clemson Came to going undefeated. Just wait til next year. These boys are winners. Blah blah blah."
I wonder if this guy threw himself off a bridge yet?

This guy obviously wears some deep garnet shaded glasses. He is actually projecting onto Clemson all of the historical failure that the coots have lived with forever. Trying mightily to get that monkey off his back and onto ours.
How did that work out for him?

Note this was back in 2011, the pinnacle of their program, and they still never won a SEC conference championship, much less be a serious contender for national championship.
It strikes me how this difference in mentality and approach to life is not only be so evident in sports fan bases (the thugs vs the good guys), but it also exists in how folks tend to think from a political ideology and governmental model philosophy too.
This coot perspective is the same kind of projectionism the Dems and the left have towards conservatives in the political realm. They are just about as delusional as a coot fan. Amazing how most on the left have lined up generally liking the coots and looking down their noses at Clemson who's coach keeps making God and family and class and integrity an integral cornerstone of everything the program is about. After all, Clemson has a family oriented, faith based, long term, delayed gratification, give back, humble approach and the coots are all about the short term, "what is in it for me" approach.

Short term success - USCe Long term success - Clemson
The differences historically between the programs is evident. I simply do not to recount them, but the immediate circumstance of USCe winning five in a row will remain their high point as Clemson steadily becomes a nationally recognized program with staying power over the long haul. The coach who inherits OBC's mess will take a long period to overcome it because USC is now behind every other competing program in the SEC and most ACC schools. It is hard for USC fans to accept the decline after coming close to reaching a previously unreachable degree of success. Reality comes home!
Go Tigers!

The URL has the date; of course it's from 4 years ago. I find it quite humorous to look back at their predictions and laugh at how wrong they are.
It must be difficult to feel so self-important that you are compelled to make this kind of post. I'll try to post something that meet your higher standards next time.

It's more like a living nightmare for the Gamecoots. You should change the name of this blog to "Wishful Gamecock" or "Delusional Gamecock".
It amazes me that after a small taste of success, you built up an utter fantasy in your head that Gamecock football had somehow "arrived", and that Clemson was doomed. Your Hall of Fame coach QUIT on you mid-season after a 2-4 start. Last year the Gamecocks fell from an absurd #6 preseason ranking to 6-6. But look at what you accomplished... No conference titles, no major bowl invites, no BCS... only NCAA probation, an unprecedented, horrific beatdown in conference title game, and a five win streak over lowly ole Clemson.
So to paraphrase your own words... South Carolina’s nightmare is set to continue for the foreseeable future while their fan base refuses to see their situation for what it is. The longer they remain in denial, the harder their problems will be to solve.
