Is Fox News “Fair & Balanced” ? More than CNN & MSNBC !

Fox News gives Juan Williams a huge platform to express his liberal viewpoint. He’s on the air all the time and is always the contrarian.

Who on CNN or MSNBC is given a similar conservative platform? Is there anyone??

Liberal guests are always included on the panel show like “Outnumbered” and “The Five” ...

On Fox, Neil Cavuto is frequently critical of Trump and certainly Shep Smith never missed an opportunity to give a liberal opinion. Ask Geraldo Rivera about any Trump policy on immigration and watch him blow his top.

Heck, even Tucker Carlson occasionally questions popular conservative hot button talking points.

Brett Baier and Dana Perino are conservative, but both are extremely even handed.

People who say Fox is not reasonably balanced apparently don’t watch Fox at all or don’t check out anything but Sean Hannity and Lara Ingraham.

Fox is the fairest network of the three by far.

Fox isn't slightly fair. That's laughable. They have Juan Williams on there because he is soft, kind of like Alan Colmes with Hannity. There isn't a more biased nutty network on the air.

MSNBC isn't balanced at all. I didn't say the were. They aren't ignorant morons like the goofballs at Fox, but they aren't even close to balanced. MSNBC just a Dem attack machine to get the Repubs. The most balanced is CNN and they aren't balanced either.

I watch them all. Fox is by far the most ignorant nutty with zero balance. MSNBC has zero balance, but at least they aren't ignorant morons like the vast majority on Fox. CNN tries to pretend they are middle of the road, but they are just libs. They are still the most moderate of the 3, which isn't saying much. They are a lib station though and anti Trump at all times.

I have zero when it comes to facts. I have taken a couple critical thinking courses. I have lived all over the US and I relate to all backgrounds. I am probably just a little more exposed than you are. I see through the news, left and right. It's cringeworthy to watch....all of it. Fox has dumbed it down to the lowest levels though. I would love to work there. It would be the easiest job in the world.
You're kind of sucker. Look at your original post. It was laughably naive and ignorant. That's cool though. It's not like any of it really matters. Fox is a gimmick. Just so you know. It's a great business model though and it was needed to counter the nutty left.

You're kidding me, right? MSNBC has been taking mucho heat from the far left lately because they've been hiring so many Never Trump conservatives. "Morning Joe" Scarborough at MSNBC was a Republican Congressman from Florida.

Nichole Wallace, also at MSNBC, was Dubya's speechwriter and White House Communication Director.

SE Cupp - SE Cupp Unfiltered - at CNN used to be on Fox, and she's highly conservative, writing in about a dozen-plus publication and is the author of books like Why You're Wrong About the Right: Behind the Myths and Losing Our Religion: the Media's Attack on Christianity.

Sarah Isgur is the director of political coverage at CNN, which caused a huge stir among arch-liberals; WaPo absolutely blasted the hire. She's a longtime Republican spokeswoman. She worked for Jeff Sessions at Main Justice until Sessions was kicked out.

It goes on and on, but CNN and MSNBC are both littered with former GOP operatives who actually broke with Fox, including Colonel Ralph Peters - who quit Fox for promoting conspiracy theories...
https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/tomnamako/ralph-peters

Former RNC Chairman Michael Peters...now a regular contributor to CNN.

Former Fox News host Alisyn Camerota, now on CNN...

...and that's where I got tired of this and stopped googling. The bottom line is there's a raftload of conservatives on CNN and MSNBC, and very few of them have anything good to say about Fox News.

Fox is anything but "Fair and Balanced", and in fact doesn't even pretend to use that slogan anymore.

Happy to have you weigh in on this topic too.

My point was that Fox allows a strongly stated viewpoint from several regulars that totally or at least partially opposes the generally accepted Fox doctrine.

Who on CNN or MSNBC strongly oppose the generally accepted liberal doctrine on a regular basis?

Who on CNN or MSNBC *regularly* calls BS on each and every statement made in favor of Donald Trump as Juan Williams doe on each and every positive statement about him?

I realize CNN and MSNBC are both heavily populated with Woke Republicans and Never Trumpers.

Look, I'm a registered Republican myself - though I'd fall into what's called a "Never Trumper" or what Party of Trumpers call a RINO - even though I haven't changed, the party has.

Fox News was founded as a News Corp initiative by Roger Ailes - who worked for Richard Nixon - and English/Australian billionaire Rupert Murdoch...who is 90 years old and still running the company. Murdoch isn't American - though he gave up his Australian citizenship for US citizenship so as to circumvent the laws on foreigners owning American media. He doesn't have much regard for Americans in general, or democracy in particular. He's an oligarch, and he's intent on bringing back the days when the so-called "robber barons" - Henry Ford, Andrew Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt, and John D. Rockefeller - pretty much owned everything in America.

Fox's goal isn't really to report the news, so much as it's to spin and blunt the impact of news, and prevent the powerful from being held to account by the public. Using News Corp's tried-and-true formula - which Murdoch and before that, Murdoch's father - have been applying for over 75 years now - they've successfully sold the notion that there's a "conservative" and a "liberal" media and that the "liberal" media is a bunch of communists out to turn America pink. ANYTHING that reeks of accountability of the powerful towards the people or questioning of authority is slammed as "liberal" and they've even got America questioning if it's an actual democracy or not...or if it even should be.

Again, they're oligarchs, in the hip pocket of oligarchs, especially the unsavory ones - the guys from Big Pharma, Big Insurance, Big Oil, and Big Everything Else. Their goal is to keep the people - who once broke up the Robber Baron empires with "anti-trust" regulation - divided and confused, while the new generation of robber barons consolidate their ever-growing hold on both politics and the free market...because at the end of the day, "free" markets are the last things they want. They want monopolies. They want power. And they assuredly do not want to be accountable to We the People.

Again, Fox's guys - Tucker Carlson, Hannity, Ingraham - aren't journalists. They're pundits posing as journalists, completely re-spinning the news (almost live and in real-time), and their agenda is simple: defeat the impact the actual media has by re-spinning it to their target audience as it happens...you know, exactly like State TV does it in every dictatorship on the planet.

Keep in mind I'm a free-market capitalist to my very bones, and an untrusting more-than-slightly-paranoid Libertarian Lite who really doesn't like Croney Capitalism or those who support it...and that's exactly why I regard Fox News as a cancer on our society. Personally I'd like to put a stake in Rupert Murdoch's 90-year-old vampire heart for once and for all and run his kids back to Australia...where, incidentally, News Corp controls almost 80% of the media market there as well. (Again, oligarchs don't like "competition" much.)

Just my own opinion.

CNN won't even show the President's daily briefing anymore. They wait until the President concludes his opening remarks, before showing the Q&A.

Yet, CNN manages to show Andy Cuomo's daily updates.

The fact that CNN's ratings are last in the cable news category should tell you all you need to know how balanced they are. Majority of independents would rather get there news from Fox.

are hopelessly pandering to their right and left consituencies.

FoxNews is NOT as bad as OAN ... heaven help us ... or some others who pander to the fear and run with it. Those crazies notwithstanding, don't convince yourself that Fox or MSNBC are remotely 'fair or balanced'.

CNN is much closer to it - -though I believe they err to the left of perfect center.

If you truly are looking for a television source for news:

1) give up 24 hour services who are always on the air. They only want to sell you commercial time. Period. That crap is pure entertainment (including CNN). It just isn't good for your brain.

2) find a good 1-2 hour a day news source and quit the rest. If there is something else you want to investigate, do your searches (COVID, gerrymandering, NASA, oil reserves, etc.) and learn something -- find a decent source for THAT information. Without relying on the network.

For my time - the PBS newshour folks try very hard to ask relevant questions and they don't seem to care who is in charge. They will tell you what they are going to report on, report it, summarize it - explain why it matters, what it means and then move on. That's how news used to be before the 24-hour cycle got started a couple decades ago.

(stepping off my soapbox)

A couple of things. The vast majority of people that bash Fox news do not watch it. They see a 10 second clip on CNN or MSNBC of Sean Hannity saying something controversial. Hannity and a couple of other hosts (i.e. Laura Ingraham) are not journalists ..... they are advocates. The news type anchors, as per you comments, Brett Bair, Chris Wallace, even Tucker Carlson to some extent (although conservative in nature), Neil Cavuto, are excellent. Tucker does not tow the party line for either side.

I do watch CNN and MSNBC and have yet to find a news anchor that is remotely fair and balanced ...... Chuck Todd ... you have to be kidding. I can't think of a single one that is anywhere close to neutral in their political stance. They think by putting on a turncoat Republican like Marsha Wallace or Joe (PW) Scarborough that they are somehow being fair.

it may be closer than folks would like to admit. Politifact did a study in 2014, looking at things said on networks by pundits, anchors, guests, etc. They rated the statements as false/mostly false/pants on fire/true. For MSNBC is 42 percent false statements. FOX was 58 percent false statements. Interestingly, CNN was 22 percent. Now, one thing a lot of folks don't know is that CNN also has a network that is CNN International. People who watch a lot of network news say that it is the only one worth watching, because it is seen around the world and hence, they don't do a lot of the political posturing that we do with our very partisan national news. I wonder if CNN International was the one that was only lying 22 percent of the time.

And defending such attributes with denigration and name-calling...and trumpeting their disgust with an 'orange-faced' President... apparently has no mirror in the house.

Fox News is definitely more balanced and objective.

They obviously lean right, but they do a good job of having opposing viewpoints. I don't see this attempt at being more objective and balanced on the other news networks.

People who criticize Fox are typically those who are hardcore liberal.

Ya’ll are confusing fox, msnbc, cnn with news. Majority of their content is editorial, it’s intended to be opinion. You agree with or disagree with the content, to some extent. This is simple folks it’s either subjective or objective content. If you agree with it or disagree with it it’s not news. Fox and MSNBC know they repackage opinion as news. It’s just unfortunate that most Americans left and right think they’re watching news. If u want news watch the 6 pm local or 7 pm national. It’s painful and is sometimes influenced by opinion, but that’s when we, as Americans, deploy our brain cells to another person’s use of free speech.

I agree that the line between news and opinion is

blurred. That's true on all networks, including Fox News.

I do wish that news stations stuck to reporting news, but in today's world, that doesn't attract viewers. People naturally gravitate toward watching what they want to hear.

I do think Fox is more objective and balanced than the other major cable news stations though.

I’m an independent. I only look at news online. Fox’s article are far and away the most biased. Their “news” articles are full of opinion, and very partisan. Also the stories they choose to feature prominently on the top of their site are very partisan as well.

CNN’s website is much more objective than Fox. I don’t check MSNBC as much as I look at the other two.

Sorry, you lost me when you combined CNN

Fair or not, Fox was the only network of the three mentioned that consistently said there was no evidence that Trump colluded with Russia to win the election. In the end, Robert Mueller and his team agreed. Now, did Trump attempt to obstruct the investigation? Maybe, or maybe not. But, he was cleared of the accusation that originally launched the investigation, and Fox was the only network that was consistently right about it.

That is false, Mueller did not clear trump, Mueller clearly stated he was unable to present charges and had to leave that up to the attorney general.

He could not bring charges with respect to the obstruction of justice issues, not the collusion, He clearly stated that there was no collusion. I know CNN and others want you to believe otherwise, but if collusion was present, don't you think Schiff would have included it as part of his scam impeachment efforts?

Of course he would've.

Collusion is not a crime, not a legal term. Collusion was never debated. Collusion was term used by fox and trump cuz they knew he could never be found guilty of “collusion”. The issue was obstruction of justice. You can skip over Fox News and CNN, just look at the transcript, we were found that Trump committed obstruction. Period.

Haha that’s a laugh! I only look at news online, so

my observation is purely about the articles on each of their sites. Fox is hands down the least objective of the three, and definitely has the most bias.

This one's "fair", I'd have to do some more in depth

Anyone that thinks CNN is reputable since Trump got elected is either incredibly dumb or they just don't watch.

They have been consistently wrong over the last few years when it comes to RUSSIA! HOw they still have any sort of credibility is beyond me.

Just watch some of the Project Veritas videos of their own employees saying they are completely biased against trump

Look at these awesome headlines

Thank you. You just proved my point.

Your missing the argument here. It isn’t, is CNN not biased,

[1]
Posted: Apr 9, 2020, 7:48 PM

it’s is a less or more biased than Fox. Fox is incredibly biased and partisan (at least the online content), so saying CNN is MORE objective isn’t saying CNN is reputable. I see CNN as less biased and more objective than Fox, but it’s still liberal and anti-Trump. Just not as much as Fox is anti-Dem.

*** just my view based on the online news content

Trump isn't conservative.

find a news source which reflects their personal preferences in bias. If that's not so with you please share your primary source of 'news,' and I will use it as mine until I find bias build into the reporting.
