Blow Out Victories = formula

In most blowout victories you end up with a few things that have to happen - I have seen!
-turnovers -short fields as a result of turnovers -capitalizing on turnovers and short fields -defensive score or two -big one strike offensive TD's -stronger team doesn't turn the ball over -stronger team does not let off trying to score -superior talented team plays to their abilities; not down to lesser teams abilities -chunk plays on offense
All of this, but not limited to the above is how you get the big point differentials! Our Tigers are fine for anyone who was alarmed the Tigers didn't "meet or exceed the spread of 49 points"! That is going into the game saying you will win by 7 TD's. The other team has scholarship players too! And, pride!
We had some key people out - I love Bresee, Pinckney and Williams - but our defense isn't the same without Tyler Davis! He's just that good and disruptive! Skalski and all that he brings including calling the defense and getting people lined up is invaluable! And DK having the ankle all hurt.
We fine! If anything, it shows you the depth we have!

Agree, and these other guys getting meaningful PT cannot help but help strengthen our team via real game experience, and not just mop up duty.

While I agree with the premise of your post, the point spreads and rankings do matter. The greater the point spread, the more respect we get from the rankings given, and the rankings do help get recruits to take a harder look at us. It all matters, but I'm with you on the importance rankings in your formula.

While rankings/point spreads do influence some recruits through perceptions those rankings create (whether accurate or not), at this phase of a season, player development and building depth is a much higher priority. In theory, it wins us more games, which attracts better recruits.

Re: We weren't in a 27-21 game late in the 3rd because

Some of the reason may have been that. We did have a number of key players out, and ETN was sick. Everybody, sooner or later, has to deal with players being sidelined for one reason or another. Point is we found a way to win, and to win pretty decisively. There will come other times when we have key players out. This was good for us to learn to deal with.
