Alaska is pretty cool.

Spent the past week in Alaska, brought home 95 pounds of coho salmon and halibut.
I'm no TOTE, but here's some pics...
Bald Eagle perched on the far left tree
Did a boat tour of Resurrection Bay, saw this guy pulling out of the marina
Tour guides were all excited when we saw a transient orca pod
Thumb Cove
Sally the moose calf at the fishing charter we stayed at
View from fishing on the Kenai River
Coho salmon and one ugly dude
View from the river boat "marina" at the fishing camp one morning before we went out
Kenai River fishing
Retired lighthouse, view from the beach before we went out halibut fishing
Same guy, different fish
Halibut haul, not a good frame of reference on sizes, but the one on the right is a 50 pounder, far left was 25-30 pounder
Hiked out to Russian River Falls, if you zoom in on the pic, you can see two salmon jumping to get up the falls
Stopped at wildlife refuge, one giant reindeer
Couple grizzlies
All in all it was a great trip, then to get home and see Tigernet losing its mind over TLaw and Herbstreit, same ole same ole.

so didn't get to see any, but supposedly the northern lights are there yeah! Didn't notice any cluster flies, I'm guessing that's a good thing?

Nice! Getting late in the season up there. I was fishing out of Seward and around to Prince William Sound first week in August couple years ago and we were the last group before they closed down for the season. I thought that was a little early but I guess they had to count their money and hide it in jars before the ground froze??

Really depends on which river you're fishing, but yes

it was pretty much the last two weeks of coho in the Kenai. Most of the pinks caught were blushing hard. Sockeye and kings were way done.
It was good timing for us, on 9/1 they upped it to 3 silvers from 2 for the limit, and we limited out the first two days.
My parents usually do the trip first week in August as well, that's the best time. They might go earlier to get kings and sockeyes.
Seward was a ghost town when we went, combination of COVID and end of season. It's close to the end of halibut season too, but the guys were telling us they were expecting like 30-40% of normal for people and said that every single day they could go out weather-wise, they were booked. So they at least weren't affected too greatly by COVID.

We shared the halibut charter with a couple.

So there were six of us plus the two guides. The lady from the couple got pretty sea sick at the end, which started making me nauseous. Water was pretty rough, but it was the best day we could've had the week we were there!
