The absolute best way to determine the National Champ

would be to have a 15 game season from the previous year's Top 15.

Then, you just play a round robin of those 15 teams where every team plays everyone. Whoever has the best record is the champion.

If you finish in the Top 8, then you're automatically back in next year's "Top 15". If you finish in the bottom 7, then you potentially will get cycled out and the top teams from the next 25 or so teams have a chance to take your spot.

It's similar to how European Soccer works.

Everyone plays everyone. Take the best record. If you have a tiebreaker, then play one extra game if you need to.

Just makes it very simple and easy.

The only truly unbiased, fair and completely logical way to determine the national champion is to play all the regular season and bowl games. Then make one phone call. "bret, who is the national champion?"

Every other way is flawed. ??
