What does Clemson have to do to score more points?

You could argue that Clemson put up more than enough yards against BC to score 28-30 points, or that Clemson should've had a couple more TD's against UofL. Obviously, Clemson moved the ball a little better against BC than they did against UofL, but it seemed like they left points on the field in both games. Stoudt, especially against BC, played pretty well and didn't hold the team back at all.
So what gives? Why do you think we could only score 17 against BC? What's the deal with Stoudt only having 1 TD pass despite putting up otherwise decent numbers? Not enough shots at the endzone?

That's probably true, but...

other teams with less than stellar offenses (Pitt, USC) were able to score 30 or more on them. The only somewhat legit D-1 team they've played that scored less was NC State.

to remind them that is what defensive football games look like. It is NOT ugly but we have become too used to offensive shows that we forget what a good defensive battle looks like. Great job Tigers!!

Yep. It is getting closer to the glory years of th 80's.

Difference was we had an OL that would dominate and control the ball at the end, and not give it back to the opponent.......March to Glory! Also D almost never gave up the big play which we still do.

10 punts and he averaged 50....we never played on a short field for the most part to begin a drive.

Simple answer: Get Deshaun Watson back. He makes Clemson a deep ball threat.

Cole has to throw the deep ball better. He's misfiring

consistently on them. That will open everything up.
We're not a good offensive line and we don't have talent at running back without Choice. We have talent at wideout, so our quarterback has to make plays in the passing game. Saturday, Cole could not make plays with his arms or feet consistently enough to keep drives alive. If he can hit some deep passes that are there to be made, it will open things up for our offense and our mediocre running game can at least keep teams honest and take some pressure off the passing game and Cole.

True, our inability to 'take the top off a defense,' is killing our typical game plan.

Our scheme and play calling is considerate of having a QB who isn't 100%. Nothing more and nothing less.

I wish it was as simple as you say, but I don't think so.

He has to throw a more accurate deep ball (20+ yards).

Or that the pain shots he's having to take just to play don't effect his judgement and/or accuracy ?

Doesn't help when you start at or inside the 20 yard line 8 times.
