I couldn’t agree more. I posted sometime after the beer garden/bullpen announcements that this is a recipe for bad sportsmanship. That ain’t the Clemson way. I saw on the broadcast that an usher had to come over to move people back. And,,,, how did it all turn out?

The fellow you are speaking of was the NCAA Site Rep for the series . He sat on the filed out of the NCAA ‘s concern about the bullpens location. The NCAA had concerns about its new location before the regional ever began.

I tend to agree. Creating a hostile environment doesn't mean putting drunk fans within arms reach of the opponents. Kind of seems "Cootish" to me. Leave the bullpen there but put a little bigger buffer between the pavilion area and the pen. Not sure how, but it needs to be tweaked. Once a fan touches a player or tosses a beer it will be over.

100% agree with him about the music. That needs to stop. Every single pitch playing a song is ridiculous.
As far as the bullpen goes, I like the idea of the fans being close to the bullpen and be able to heckle (the correct way) the pitchers... it is too close though. That wall needs to be moved back 10 feet.

Music in all sports has gotten to be beyond ridiculous. Let the band play at fb and basketball and the organ at baseball. IT's total BS that only the kids recognize and they are NOT PAYING THE BILLS !! They are getting their bills paid by those of us that hate hearing that total GARBAGE !!

visiting team bullpens are supposed to be crappy. imo it should be just good enough to pass NCAA rules. IT should also be out in right center'ish. That would allow for more "traditional" chirping and heckling from the cajun cafe area. I imagine thats a little tamer than a bunch of drunk frat guys 2 feet away.

Man, Clemson shouldn't have to be cootish to be successful in baseball. I'm for the fan interaction, but i was over at the bullpen for a game and fans being able to physically touch a pitcher is a bad idea. It's gonna cause Clemson to look bad. Move the fans back 6 to 8 ft. That's all we are saying.

the way it was. I stood 10 feet from the FSU pitcher and not so politely let him know he didn’t want to go into the game. The addition of beer and drunks wasn’t needed.

I like it...I saw many times where parents or friends from the opposition got to see or interact with their guy...I've seen some innocent teasing going on between players and fans that resulted in laughs...
These kids are going to hear and experience much worse at the next level. Who cares.

He's absolutely right. They spent too much time thinking about that garbage instead of focusing on the team.
That's not who Clemson is. Yes, you want the fans to be loud and support the team, but don't cross the line. And that setup is just begging for some idiot to cross the line.

For years the Cheap Seats has been giving the right fielder grief, but it’s done from a distance and no risk of physical altercation. What we have at the visitors bullpen is not an IF but When an incident occurs. That’s going to be an ugly rough aftemath for Neff because he won’t be able to pretend he never heard of any risk. Totally agreed about the loud pumped in music. It’s loud 20 minutes before the game starts. It’s difficult to hear the person sitting next to you. Obviously those in charge of it are either clueless or don’t care. It’s sad because they have only achieved an undesirabe conditioning of the fans to get loud. I prefer to see more authentic excitement like we saw from the Jervey Junkies. Let the fans take over the critical moments of the game. It makes the place way more exciting.

Well the problem with that is the louder fans are the ones sitting further away. Too many times this year I saw a bunch of old people in polos and visors behind home plate and the dugouts sitting on their hands.

Personally, I think it's counter productive as T_I_P pointed out. But what he said about it being more like a minor league feel is correct. The last game I attended, I walked away feeling like same way.
