Not to be cynical but I've got to believe Dabo wanted to make sure that, a) this guy wasn't some kind of unbelievable talent you may have to tolerate at times and that, b) the rest of the RB room was gonna be just fine without him, before deciding to send him packing. That would be the pragmatic way of deciding when/if to get rid of him.
