Why is it so far fetched to believe Haitians eat pets?

Disclaimer: in no way am I saying Haitians are stealing pets and eating them.
But, Haiti is one of the poorest countries on this earth. The majority of people are well below the poverty line.
I’m just not seeing how it’s not believable that a few Haitians may indulge in cats and dogs or any meat they can get.
Thoughts?

It's not out of the question that Clemson fans, being aggies, have been to a farm and maybe a goat caught their eye. Now I'm not saying that as a Clemson fan you #### goats, but I'm just saying I don't see how it's not believable that you may have ###### a goat or two in your life.

I don't it find it hard to believe that some of them may have poached some ducks or geese from the local park. I've heard of other immigrants doing that. It should be illegal, but it's not really any worse than hunting deer out of season. They are far from an endangered species.
I'm going to need some actual evidence that they are stealing people's cats and dogs to eat, though. That one crazy lady who killed a cat and tried to eat it raw isn't proof of anything other than her being crazy, and I haven't seen any evidence that she is even Haitian or any kind of immigrant.

If these were Chinese folks in Ohio, I might buy it with dogs being preferred 2.5 to 1 over cats for consumption. I'm not familiar with Caribbean folks with a taste for either cats or dogs, but it's possible.

A. No has provided any evidence they do.
B. They have settled in America where there are cheaper/lower risk food options than stealing someone’s pet and eating it.
Why are we even entertaining this? This stemmed from a case of a crazy AMERICAN CITIZEN eating a cat in Ohio. Trump and Vance knowing lied about it. C’mon man.

but here in the US they will have access to far more resources and food, even if they are making a little bit of money. (most of them have factory jobs, so they are at least making some money).
