Who controls when the natty

is played. Saw that this year's natty had one of the lowest viewership ratings of all the past cfp championship games. I'm sure the 2 teams playing was part of the reason, along with the length of the new season and other factors. For the life of me I don't get why college football still plays the championship game on a Monday night at around 8pm when most people gotta get up and go to work the next day. Why does the NFL playoff get to take Saturdays away from what should be college football. Can the final game of the season not be played like the Super Bowl in the afternoon on a Sunday. Youd get alot more people tuning in for that time slot.

The two teams who played have some of the largest fan bases in college football.

I don't buy your argument that the two teams playing were a factor in the lower ratings.

My only argument would be that college basketball isn't necessarily considered a weekend only sport like college football traditionally is..

The CFP committee negotiates the time slots with the TV Networks. They could play it on a Saturday if they wanted, but they would lose viewers to the NFL. The NFL doesn't "take Saturday" - they have every right to schedule any day of the week just like college does. There are too many playoff games to fit them all on Sunday, so they play some on Saturday.

The simple fact is that the NFL behemoth will dominate ratings over CFP, so the committee doesn't try to compete.

You read wrong. The game had the 5th lowest rating but was the most watched game of the year.

Who said it wasn't the most watched game of the year?

Something felt weird about the championship this year. It felt off.

I've seen ppl on other sites saying it was anticlimactic, too.

I don't know if it was because OSU basically bought this championship via their $20mill roster, if it was because there were no southern schools involved, if it was because the game was played much later in January, or if it was because it was a #5 vs #6 seed and not the Oregon/UGA matchup that most people were craving.... but something just felt different about the game this year. It felt less interesting somehow.
