Maybe their personalities complement each other better than others. Venables doesn't seem one to make rash decisions so this is probably a win/win scenario. Wes might be a little too heady and smart at times where you need a little more gut. Having that element at his side in Brent in-game could be the right mix.

Youd have to think they'd be confused about giving the job to a guy who just got fired/released/resigned from his last job where he produced a worse product than the year before every season he was in charge. OK has struggled recently bit they are still a desirable coaching destination so why settle for Wes? We all at least figured he would help maintain continuity and hopefully some of Brett's success but that clearly didn't happen so they don't even have that to grab hold of.

I’m sure they watched our game against Texas, and they had to have been laughing at what we were calling defense in that game.

I think Wes is smart and can analyze offenses, but he belongs in the box, not sideline. JMO
