Glad the boys shook the rust off. Playing a game at 930pm seems like a disadvantage to me but they zombied through it.

SMU is a pretty solid group. That was a big win , a gutsy win ...over a quality opponent in a difficult setting (late game) with the ACC Tournament history that Clemson has.

it was a lock down late. Miller had their last field goal w 6 minutes left. Plus he opnly had 10 points total

Wondering why you thought it should have been easy? SMU won 23 games this year and is a good team. SMU was more physical than a Tommy Bowden football team yet our center, right on cue, had to sit with foul trouble. Was a hard fought game and we won but was never going to be easy

Defensively we were fine.
Offensively we played like crap.
Couldn't even hit free throws.
It was like the Ga Tech game all over again even with the end of game futility in trying to seal it.

It really should have been easy. We were off. For all of you that think SMU is a good team, look again. Yeah, they might have won 23 games... but you have to dig into their schedule.
17 of those 23 wins were against quad 3 and 4 teams. Of the 6 other games they won, 0 q1 wins and 6 q2 wins with the highest win was a home game against Pitt. That's #62 net Pitt. So, no, I don't exactly say They're are good team.

I guess I would saythatthey didn't lose a lot of bad games, either. Having competed as a young boy and teenager I will kindly say that when you beat teams that play at your level , regardless of record or recent history it is notable , and it means that you're pretty good if you do so consistently...which SMU did this season.
They're well coached and have some really good guard play.
I understand all the quad math and expert polls and all that stuff , but credit them their due for winning at the D1 level against other teams with D1 athletes and staffs.

correct, we played like a team full of freshman, kept them in it with silly turnovers, pitiful shooting, and even missed free throws near the end. Chase Hunter used to be automatic at the line but missed a couple last nite including a big one at the end that would have sealed the win. A top 10 club should play better than we are playing over the last 5 games, and we will have to to have a chance tonite. Against Louisville, this type of shooting and turnovers will get us beat double digits again.

We were waaaay off. We took a lot of dumb shots and and were rarely able to get the ball down low because SMU packed the D in so tight. When we tried to go outside, the shooting accuracy was bad and we took a lot of late-clock desperation shots from 3-land because we couldn't penetrate.
I'll have to say that a lot of our mistakes were caused by good play on the part of SMU, but still, we just weren't playing as smart as usual.
Hopefully tonight we'll find the mental groove.

We? It is Lakhin who needs to keep Lakhin on the floor. He sometimes makes really dumb mistakes. On the good side of that (if there is one), his mistakes are often from trying so hard that his judgement suffers.
If he'll just dial it back half a notch, he'll be fine.

SMU is a good team with 23 wins. It's not as if we are world beaters. We are very good. People act like we are the best team in the country and that SMU sucks. The teams aren't that far apart. Clemson is obviously the better team, but it's March Madness and a good SMU team was playing for their season.
