They excel at not one single category. Offensively or pitching wise. While it’s not a bad team it’s definitely not a top 15 quality team. Terrible team BA with no superstar, sorry power output, average at best pitching, average defense save cam… it’s not like this is an awful baseball team for sure… but we can all see now that this team has nowhere near the qualities of a top 10 squad. When you have not one superlative characteristic it eventually shows in separation from the elite and that’s what we’re seeing. Lots of recruiting work to be done by an excellent head coach if we want to really belong where we’d falsely been placed ranking wise

Hopefully, we enjoyed all those innings earlier in the year where we get a walk, a HBP, a couple ground outs, a fly ball and a single and come away with a 2 or three runs. Those days were charmed and couldn't continue. Sooner or later you have to begin to string hits together and get base hits with RISP, which this team does not do. We have a complete lineup of banjo hitters from top to bottom who are almost guaranteed to strikeout or popup with runner on 3rd and less than 2 out. Whereas, earlier in the year, contact would have been made by hook or crook and the runner scores. Not any more! We have a bunch of scrappy singles hitters who were great at manufacturing runs early on, then suddenly thought they were Hank Aaron and began swinging so hard it creates a vacuum behind home plate as they try to pull low outside sliders before walking back to the bench, bat in hand. Hitting philosophy changed mid-season and now they are stuck in the middle of attempting to wear down the opposing pitcher and get walks and HBP's to trying to force contact on bad pitches and striking out. Now, they Take the strikes and swing at the balls. Sounds like Monte Lee is back in town! I'm ready to see some more Bakich Ball with the team clawing out runs by any means possible and racking up runs by the sackful. Seeing our players whiff over and over witn RISP is becoming nauseous.
