Today thru Monday is WELCOME WEEK @ CU for new students

In particular and all students in general.

Today, Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun is move in time.

On Monday 8/19 President Clements meets all newcomers at 9:30am til noon on the lawn beside LJ with a meal afterwards.

On Monday 8/19 College Street is closed for all students to mingle, have fun with refreshments while hearing from Univ & City leaders.

Makes one want to be there, again! LOL~

I can still remember back 64 years when I entered Clemson and my Dad & I (with GF #1 & later Wife along with Mom & Siblings) carrying a heavy wood low chest we'd built together and painted black into dorm room at one of the four old brick quadrangle buildings that overlooked present soccer field but back then in 1959 it was Coach Frank Howards FB practice field.

Bill: when you & I went to Clemson there were no apartments. Just 4 kids to a dorm room. Bathroom at the end of the hall. No cars, no phones, no nothing. One was there to study. Life was so simple.

Yes sir, LBB, I will be there Friday with my freshman daughter! I don’t remember this much organized chaos when I moved in back in ‘83!

Got back earlier today from moving my youngest son into his dorm room in Byrnes Hall. I have to give it to the folks over at Clemson, that was the most organized move in day I have ever been a part of. My word of advice to him as his mom and I headed out the door to return home
“ Enjoy every minute of your time here. It goes by so fast”

On my move-in day back in '68, I grabbed a couple rats coming out of the canteen, told them to get my foot locker, and they proceeded to carry it to my room on New A 7th floor. I'm glad I never saw them again after I got my haircut and Rat hat.
