My favorite tiger outside of all the legends is Hunter Renfrow! He was the epitome of underdog! Always under sized not fast enough but yet still performed to become one of the most iconic players in Clemson lore! He shows if you put in the hard work and dedication you can achieve anything. So Hunter Renfrow is my guy!!

Mine is definitely CJ Spiller. I was 11 years old when he was a freshman and it was around the time I really started focusing in on learning more about football. But the best memories were the OT win against Miami, Maryland, and Georgia Tech (ACC Championship) in 2009. I was watching the game with the family and I remember so vividly when CJ had that kick return and ran "28 mph". It was iconic, I remember my cousins screaming at the top of his voice, he was a Clemson Football fanatic like me and it was something we could bond over in those times. Then the Maryland kick off return, where was dragging a few Terp players and lost his shoe. Then the ACC Championship that year, that my family and I attended. Coldest day in recorded Tampa history I believe, especially with the wind gust and I wore shorts. I was miserable but watching CJ nearly carry us to a win that game, priceless. The fact he only finished 6th in the Heisman discussion is a travesty and not at least invited to New York was definitely one of the biggest NCAA blunders in my eye. But the coolest memory I have of CJ, wasn't even a play itself, it was during the Virginia game in 2009. He carried the flag down the hill and hearing the entire stadium chant his name was something of legend itself and I still get chills from it to this day.

Give that man a statue at this point as well. Go Tigers!

Christian Wilkens. I believe he meant more to a team than any Tiger! CW was extremely talented and definitely a team leader. His catch against Oklahoma on the fake punt demonstrated his versatility and raw talent. Christian was always the first to congratulate a player after a TD, FG or an excellent play. After Kelly Bryant chose to leave, he held the team together and showed his leadership meeting with Trevor and showing his support. He helped lead Clemson to our second National Championship and I honestly believe we would not have won the third without him.

He will definitely be in the Ring of Honor!!

My favorite Clemson football player of all time is Jerry Butler. Nobody in my age range will ever forget “The Catch” to prevent the chickens from parading those No Cigars Tonight t-shirts around. He was also a high school senior at the school where my office was my first year on the job. I saw him play all high school sports and was a natural in all of them. Saw a baseball disappear into the darkness over a center field high screen in Pendleton and his win over a favored 100 meter runner for state championship. Too many standout plays to mention!

Hunter Renfrow hands down!!! First of all he saved our first championship game against Alabama by making the tackle in the backfield after a Tiger fumble. Second he made the winning catch for a TD in the same game. “Third and Renfrow” made how many clutch 3rd down catches in crucial situations over his career? His ability to get open and never drop a pass was simply amazing to watch. And on top of all that he was humble and always gave credit to everyone else.
In Hunter we trust!!! Go Tigers!!!

Mark Heniford, Harold Caine and Joey Walters. It's awesome that 'back in the day', they were student-athletes. We had classes together, harassed in intramurals...chatted and walked about the campus, or just sat on a sunny day. Just nice guys who embraced the Clemson Experience beyond football! Those personal interactions are 'legendary' to me! Tigers forever!

My favorite all time CU player is Buddy Gore. The Conway Comet who wore No 44 which is somewhat of an iconic number for a running back anyway. He just looked like a football player and after the down years after the Bluebonnet Bowl he helped raise Clemson back up to top of the conference along with a great group of offensive linemen. Those 66,67 & 68 teams were really good teams and took a great Georgia team to the wire and if not for 3 missed field goals would have beaten Alabama. Gore was the top rusher for 3 years and first Clemson player to top 1000 yards in a season in 1967. I’ve still got a picture of him leading the team in warmups before the NC State game when the team painted their shoes orange and beat a top 10 NC state team. For a 13 year old who listened to the games on an old RCA Radio (which I still have by the way) he was a mystical figure. Still today when I see a player wearing no 44 I think of ole BUDDY GORE FORTY FOUR!!

Steve Fuller was thew greatest. I have known him since the 6th grade. I graduated Spartanburg HS with him in 1975. He brought Clemson football back almost by himself. He gave us four years of honor, hard work, loyalty and gratitude. What a thrill to say I saw each and every game he played in. His performance at Maryland for the 1978 ACC football crown was a thing of beauty with long Td passes to Dwight Clark and Jerry Butler. Those were the years that Maryland won often. His game against Ohio State and Woody Hayes can never be forgotten for excitement. BTW, I thought (and still think) that Charley Pell was a great coach.

My favorite Clemson football player was my dad Wyburn Cameron Dozier (nicknamed Teddy Bear by Frank Howard) graduated in 1933 at alt captain of that team. He brought Clemson to our family, help pay for several of his younger siblings to go to Clemson over the years. I remember him telling me he thumbed his way to Clemson with enough money to pay for 1 semester but when he got there the coach saw him and offered him a scholarship on the football team to help pay for the rest, this coming to a guy that had never played football before because his high school did not have a team. I have programs from his senior year showing he was the 2nd heaviest on the team at 195 and he played on both sides of the ball at that weight. Can you see that today. Love you dad in heaven and thanks for bringing the Clemson blood to our family.

Ben embodied what it means to me to be a Clemson football player. He played tough, was the consummate teammate, and maximized his production with the skills God gave him. He wasn’t the most talented player on the field, but he made big plays in big moments. This is Clemson in my mind. Our Tigers don’t have all the resources of bigger programs, but Clemson maximizes what we’ve got to compete and beat the “big boys”.

Ben’s stop on the 2pt conversion against Notre Dame in 2015 will live forever. If that stop doesn’t happen we don’t play in the natty. His suplex of that poor Syracuse guy still brings a smile to my face. Finally, who could forget his passionate speech after the national championship game. “It’s finally coming home, baby!!!! It’s coming home!!!”.

Christian Wilkins ... I remember going to an autograph signing in Charleston. It was after Christian had given Dabo a "wet willy" on stage. I tried to pay my son to give Christian a "wet willy" when we went through the line. My son refused and my mother, who was with us, told Christian. Christian's response was "I would've done it. " I love how he was a real person as well as a great player.

My easy choice is Gaines Adams.

Greenwood boy that played 8 man ball at a small private school (under Former Gamecock QB) and played both sides. Was a decent tight end.

His first season at Clemson was my first season ticket ownership year. Also being Greenwood, his story was fun to watch as he ascended into a 4th overall draft pick in the NFL.

Of course a very sad ending to a very short life! He'll always hold a special spot as a Tiger 🐅 🐅 🐅 🐅 🐅 🐅

My favorite Clemson players of all time would have to be Michael Dean Perry, Gaines Adams, and Vic Beasley. Gaines Adams tied the record for number of sacks which was a previous sack record once established by Michael Dean Perry at (28) sacks each. Then came Vic Beasley who broke the record by (1) sack. Me personally, I love a hard-hitting sack more than a touchdown. It's even better when it comes from the DE on the blind side and causes a fumble. Definitely (3) legends that passed through the Avenue of Champions and earned the right to rub Howard's Rock. Unfortunately, Gaines Adams had his career cut short by an untimely death and I wished he could have played a full NFL career. There's no telling what he would have accomplished.

GO TIGERS!

My favorite player was Hunter Renfrow who went from walk on to starter and hero. He always gave 110 percent. I was at the National Championship game when he caught the winning touchdown. We had a clear view above that end zone where he made that perfect catch. He definitely was a fan favorite. For example I went to the early August fan day in I believe was Hunter’s 4th season and the player were sitting behind tables and Hunter made point to lean over the table to get his picture taken with me and my wife.

Many would consider me a "youngster" I say this to explain that I haven't been around for as much Clemson football as other guys on here, however I have loved Clemson since I was born and I remember Clemson moments from when I was very young. For Me, my favorite Clemson player isn't just one guy, but a group of guys. The Power Rangers were one of the most dominant D-Lines in college football history and embodied the Clemson football program. They were are great people and players. They brought lots of wins to the Clemson team and their decisions to stay for the extra years were legendary and selfless. I loved how much fun they were off the field and the dominance they had on the field. I am even lucky enough to have been coached in high school by Nyles Pickney (not a main power rangers I'd say he still counts). Not only did these guys do great at Clemson but they are having amazing careers in the NFL. If you are going to talk about LEGENDS, these guys have got to be apart of the conversation.

I guess impressions made when you are young stick hard! My first ever Clemson game was the 1959 Bluebonnet Bowl when I was a mere 12yo. My Uncle was a Clemson grad and took me to many games in the Valley and we went to Houston in December 1959. My Uncle said we had to go because Clemson was the 1st college team to play in 2 bowl games in the same year. Like most kids I thought QB was the player to watch and loved Harvey White. My lasting hero from that game was Lou Cordileone as he was later drafted in the 1st round and that was big news in my brickyard town of Van Wyck. Sadly, he never did much in the pros but still remained my favorite player for years.

Our son was born on August 20, 2005. From the time he could walk in 2006 he has been a CJ Spiller fan. All we ever heard about was CJ this and CJ that. He had the jerseys, he had the little kid version of the uniform, everything had to be number 28. Baseball, basketball, football, no matter what jersey he wore for rec sports he always wanted to be 28. We went to many CU games but our seats were too far up to ever make it to the field after a game and fan day lines were just too long to ever get a chance to meet CJ. Even when CJ went to the Bills and his numbered changed we had to get a Bills #21 jersey. My son is still a Bills fan to this very day at the age of 19.

Thanks to a very special customer at the time, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Upstate, a few years ago my son was finally able to meet his idol. I don’t think he stopped smiling for a week after finally meeting and shaking CJ’s hand. It was everything he’d dreamed of. CJ was incredible and took time to listen to my son speak about how he’d always been his favorite Tiger and Bills fan. CJ even offered some words of encouragement for my son’s upcoming football season. My son went on to play for a HS state championship and one season of D2 football and IMO it all goes back to his first football hero, CJ Spiller!

Hunter Renfro:

Hunter Renfrow isn’t just a Clemson legend — he’s the heartbeat of every underdog story ever told. He’s the skinny walk-on with the quiet confidence who made the kind of noise in college football that still echoes through Death Valley. While five-star recruits wore headlines like armor, Renfrow wore humility — and yet, it was him who etched his name into Clemson lore with hands that caught not just passes, but history.

I remember the first time I saw him on the field. Tucked between giants, he looked almost out of place — a kid among men. But then, the play would begin, and somehow, he’d find space where none existed. His routes weren’t flashy, but they were pure poetry — sudden, deliberate, surgical. Quarterbacks trusted him, coaches leaned on him, and fans like me saw in him a reflection of every overlooked dream we ever had. He didn’t need to leap over defenders or burn them with speed; he beat them with timing, heart, and a kind of football IQ that can’t be measured at the combine.

But no moment captured his magic better than that January night in 2017. With one second left on the clock, two seconds from glory or heartbreak, Deshaun Watson rolled right and found Renfrow in the end zone. It was more than a touchdown. It was destiny — the walk-on catching the game-winner to dethrone Alabama and bring Clemson a national championship. I remember shouting, not words but raw emotion — disbelief, joy, pride. I remember tears. Because somehow, he did it. The unlikeliest hero on the biggest stage.

Hunter Renfrow taught me that grit beats glamour. That heart can’t be measured. That if you keep running your route, someday the ball will come. And when it does — like he did — you make the catch.

My Tiger Great hero is Joe Bostic.
On Nov 19 in 2005 I left for Columbia at 9am from Folly beach. I was travelling alone in my little ford escape on I-26. The rest of this story has been told to me from the Bostic family and my family.

Around Orangeburg I started to slow down to my friends traveling behind me and motioned to them that I wanted to eat. See, I'm a type 1 diabetic and at the time not really taking care of myself.

I sped off from that group and all they saw was a dust cloud ahead. As did the Bostic family. Did I know them? Of course not, but being a CU nut I knew both the brothers played at CU & NFL.

My car went into the grass median at about 75 mph (What Joe says) , overcorrected, and back towards the median again. My Escape started flipping/rolling in the air and I was somehow thrown through the drivers window that was open. I landed forehead 1st into the grass.

The Bostics (joe, jami-wife, mark-son) pulled over as did my friends. Joe called 911. Once EMS arrived I was unresponsive. My friends told paramedics I was diabetic. They then tested blood sugar. It was 33.

Undoubtably I passed out while driving and went into hypoglycemic shock
I was taken by helicopter to MUSC.
Meanwhile Joe got my parents number from my friends and called them. (remember, they had no idea who I was)
I was diagnosed with a spinal cord injury, had surgery 2 weeks later, told I may never walk again, and taken to Charlotte for 2 months inpatient therapy
But Joe never left. He called my dad the whole weekend of the wreck and everyday at MUSC.
Once I arrived in charlotte, he walked into my room that night and I was speechless.
Once I began to walk again 9 months later (miracle) Joe invited me and my wife to a home game in his suite. Luckily for me, he kept inviting me back and back. My walking has diminished since that 1st game, but he and I text all game long. That includes basketball/baseball as well. To me he's the greatest friend over the last 20 years of my life
