The reality of where we are

There is no doubt that Clemson has slipped. In won’t argue that it hasn’t. What I will argue is the “why”.

For almost TEN YEARS, the SEC schools - on average - have been getting $10-$11 million dollars more a year in revenue from their TV contract. That’s well over $100 million more in funds to work with for South Carolina than Dabo has had to work with at Clemson.

Then… here comes NIL… and an open environment to pay players.

For those of you who don’t think Clemson is paying players - you’re wrong. Clemson’s football “payroll” is around $5 million dollars. For comparison, South Carolina’s is $9 million. Ohio State’s payroll is the well documented $20 million. You want to talk about Texas and Texas A&M?

If you think Dabo sucks, you are saying it’s his fault that he can’t get results from $5 million than other teams get from double that and more.

We do not have enough money to pay big time recruits AND keep our roster intact. No… we didn’t bring anyone in from the portal this year. We also had one of the lowest roster attrition numbers in the sport. Also… the portal is EXPENSIVE and there’s no guarantee of success. Ask Florida State. They’ve seen both sides. Is that the team you want to be?

If you want to see it change - donate to the NIL collectives so they can fund player payroll. This is a pro sport now. These kids get PAID. Dabo has chosen to focus on selling the Clemson brand to recruits and using his money to keep the best players he has. Norvell has chosen to use his money on portal layers. Both coaches literally don’t have the money to do both.

Until Dabo has more money to play with (which is coming) we will continue to struggle. Once the new revenue rolls in, the additional $11 million Dabo will have to spend WILL make a difference.

If any of you doubt Dabos desire to win, you haven’t been paying attention. Once the saying field is even… expect better results personnel wise.

Now… if we can just do something about the conservative playcalling.
