Tailgate Internet

I was only able to tailgate once last season, and I just did the standard hotspot through my iPhone (T-Mobile). The connection was pretty good up until about 2-3 hours before kickoff. This was the App St game so kickoff wasn’t until 8pm. I’m thinking of switching to something more efficient this season. I’ve been thinking about using Starlink but don’t know anyone personally who has used it yet. In your opinion, what’s the best option for internet access on game days? I’m sure location plays a big role but I just need something that won’t buffer every two minutes.

I had Verizon a few years ago and could never get a decent signal to stream without the campus wifi. I had access as a student so it was able to stream fairly well but didn’t work for me after I graduated.

It really depends on your parking location. I have a dedicated 5G ATT hotspot. It loses 5G down in the hole that is Lot 5. It’s still 4G but that’s a huge difference

Streaming is a loser around the stadium. I’ve been doing DIRECTV/DISH for years without any issues.

I quit trying the last 2 years, but I’ve never seen anybody stream TV successfully using cellular service. Verizon is excellent around Clemson, but NOT with 80,000 people trying to use it at the same time.
Let us know if/how Starlink works for you!

My company uses Starlink on a mobile Medical/Dentistry bus. It works really well, and we are very rural. Some places we go with it, we have no cell service whatsoever. It's fast enough that it allows us to pass xray images back to a server in one of our clinics, so I would imagine streaming would be fairly casual with it. I don't think you would be disappointed.

We use Verizon up until gametime with very little buffering. I should say that

our reserved parking spot is closer to Pendleton than to the stadium :)

Starlink is awesome!

I've used mine in some rural areas with little to no cell service and have fast internet speeds.

SOLIS 5G Works Great!

I dumped the Dish Sat service and bought a SOLIS 5G Hotspot. It works great. You buy GB and then it pulls off the best cell tower signal. I have YouTube TV for service. We have been very pleased. A tip though...buy the per GB Plan not a 24 hour plan. The 24 hour plan throttles.

Prioritized data on Verizon is the key. That, and if you know how to use Samsung Dex on a wired HDMI connection to your TV, you are using the phone data, not hotspot. If that data is prioritized, good chance of it working smoothly.

If you can afford it, starlink is the bomb…. Plus get the RV/mobile plan and you can turn it on and off each month and only pay for the months you need it….
