our schedule, going forward how would you fix it, other than getting out of the ACC and joining another Power 4 Conference? (I'm all for that btw) Lots of people love to say we ain't played anyone. I'm sure all y'all got ideas on what we need to do in the future to avoid this again, right? LOL.

That would be great but what I hear is Clemson would have to negotiate a home and away game with them and that would upset Clemson merchants if we lost a 7th game at home every 2 years.

Scheduled UGA this year…every team in the country has the citadels and Woffards of the world on their schedule…It’s nothing significant to Clemson

Seems to be working out great for SEC teams, right? 😆
The issue isn't playing non P4 teams, if it was everyone would be screaming about how easy SEC schedules are.
The problem is the ACC. The national perception is that we play cupcakes. If we were in the SEC that would not be the case.

Why avoid it? This ACC schedule laid the easiest path for us to make the playoffs by winning the ACC. We won't get that lucky again any time soon.

But unlike the SEC allowed us no way to have multiple conference losses and still be in contention for the playoffs.

Agree. Who would have thought we would still have chance to play in CFP after Louisville game. Now we have 2 pathways. If we lose to chickens still have chance if Syracuse beats Miami. May not be financially beneficial to stay in ACC, but easier path to CFP each year as long as we are dominant team in ACC each year.

There’s 20 million reasons a year to leave the ACC, better competition will force our team to get better or be exposed as frauds. But at least it will be settled on the field instead of theorized over

I wouldn’t exactly call it the easiest path. We basically have to pitch a shutout all season long to be in contention. There is zero margin for error

The ACC could go back to divisions split along the lines of football

investment and support - Premier and Champions style. This would produce around two additional higher end games each season with greater appeal, and improve even more if we replaced our annual FCS bout with a P4 or mid-major style game. The ACC could expand the schedule to 9 games with the 9th, and 5th league home game, belonging to a Premier division school at the expense of a Champions division since they're squandering those home games anyway with crappy attendance and support.

Ok. That would be a start if we stayed in the conference. But it would also mean the ACC would have to redo the divisions at the expense of some of the NC rivalries which I don't believe they will like doing. I always believed we needed to be playing UNCheat, VT, Miami more regularly than WF or BC.

UNC and NC State would be in the same division (Premier) and each could cross-division schedule Duke and Wake (Champions) respectively on an annual basis. Pretty much like it was before we ditched divisions completely. UVA and Va Tech would be similar cross-division schedules, and we'd have Ga Tech. This model wouldn't have division members play all others, more like 6 within and 3 cross.

How would that happen? Changing conferences? I mean there are numerous prime time match ups all season long for some conferences. We are lucky in the ACC if we get one or two, and often that one or two is competing against prime time matchups in said other conferences.

They requested in the off-season that we agree to move our rivalry game to black Friday and we refused. Magically half of our games this year were selected for noon broadcasts; there's no coincidence here.

Sorry but Friday is not Clemson football. How many SEC teams or Big 10 teams other than a handfull play on any day but a Saturday? It would have hurt attendance, recruiting travel plans for recruits to visit Clemson, and in the end seen as a second tier game played as an appetizer for bigger games on Saturday. Glad we said no. Still how do we improve our schedule every one is complaining about?

Honestly kick the teams who even if they are good the public will disregard out or are taking a larger share of revenue than they are actually worth.
The New ACC-
Clemson, FSU, Miami, Georgia Tech, UNC, NC State, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Pitt, Louisville.
That means Duke, Stanford, Wake, Cal, BC, SMU and Syracuse are out. In football at least, they can do the Notre Dame thing and still play the other sports with us.
When Auburn, Florida, and Oklahoma upset their top teams that means it's just really tough to play in the SEC whereas if you get beat by Stanford you're just a bad team.
