Cade hadn’t taken a win away from Pitt with his spectacular 50 yd run with less than 2 minutes to go.

In fact, in the prior 3-seasons we’ve had more than 3 losses once or twice.

Tells one a lot where Clemson football has gone from the hay days and this season isn’t over, so hold on!

I know we play in a disrespected conference, but what other ACC team has done it consistently in recent years? And there are likely only a handful of teams in any conference with at least 9 wins in each of the last four seasons.

There are 100 teams who have won 9 games in a season at least one in the last 4 seasons (I used 6 for the current season, as most likely anyone with fewer than that can’t get to 9)

Total 9+ per season
2021-37
2022-38
2023-40
2024-64

How many times each of the 100 has done it
4 times-7 (LSU may not get to 9 this year)
3 times-15 (includes Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Washington)
2 times-28 (includes Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah)
1 time-50 (includes Southern Cal, Texas A&M, Baylor)

So even through this “disappointing” period, we are among the top 7 consistently winningest programs, and better off than a ton of quality programs.

The consistency of Saban broke the reality for expectations of what it means to have a great program.

The overwhelming majority of teams will never dream of experiencing out "pit of despair" that we have been in from 2021-2024.
