Punters available in the portal....

Next year looks good on many levels.... you always need a bit of luck with the injury bug, and you never can be too deep, but the only glaring hole I see is punter.
Swanson's drop off last season compared to 2 years ago is a huge head scratcher. Two years ago, he single-handidly won us 1-2 games b/c he could flip the field and pin teams inside the 20 consistently. Last year, it was horrible.
Seems like the guys behind him haven't stepped up. Link is available punters in the portal and there are quite a few available. Maybe when the portal re-opens, we might see another addition. Would love to see an Aussie with a rugby back ground to do those run to the side punts to give our gunners more time to get downfield.
We will have a Swinney holding for two more years.... Long-term, we just need Dabo to have a few more sons b/c I don't know what we are going to do at the holder position after they all have grown up.

I'm sure that's news to Dabo and the staff. Thanks.

His leg probably died because our offense stunk for 2 seasons straight. 7-8 punts a game for 2 years it felt like.

I know it’s fun for some to take shots at Dabo which is sometimes deserved but when was the last time we missed a FG due to holder error?

Before Will Swinney got here in 2017.... they can hold. I'm not saying they can't.
What I have said in the past is I do not question that the Swinney boys (all 3 of them) can hold the ball and have done their job. In fact, one of them (Drew, Will or Clay) have scored on a fake FG run a time or two.
What I have said is there are more athletic people on the roster who have been there longer at the times they got the job, that could have and probably should have been in that position and let the boys sit a year or two. I get it... Dabo can choose who he wants, but why not let a 3rd or 4th string QB in their 3rd or 4th year do it? Its the way of the world though.
I have Brad Scott as my photo.... people forget when Jeff Scott came to Clemson in 1999, he did redshirt a year, but then was the holder for 4 years only b/c of Brad. Was Jeff good at holding ? Absolutely. Was he athletic ? Yes... but probably in the bottom 10% of the skill players/QBs at the time on speed and quickness. Did it work out well for us? Absolutely.
Just like in life, its not what you know, its who you know that matters most. And sometimes you get the job not for being the most qualified, but who your Dad is, who your uncle is, etc.... It happens in the real world, in the military, and in college football.
But it is fun to joke about Dabo needing to have some more sons quickly so we can have another holder.

The scholarship punting has been weak for since Pinion left ...

The walk-on FG/XP holding has been rock solid.
Like the majority of Tiger fans, I do not get how the punting and kicking has been sub-par for some years as Clemson is a stellar college program. Opponent punters' ability to flip the field and Clemson punters' inability to do the same has been costly and affected W-L rankings.
Now Nolan Hauser has changed all that at K position - definitive NFL potential was showed off well has freshman year. He's a freshman All-American last year with OL blocking. 2025 punter ability to boom 60-70 yard punts when needed will be interesting.
