At 44 I'm way under the average for a total knee replacement, but I believe my football and high jumping days have caught up with me. I'd appreciate prayers for a successful operation, no infections, and a smooth recovery. Surgery at St. Francis in Greenville. However it goes, God is good and I love the Tigers. Thanks everyone!

My Mom has had both of her knees replaced with the last being about 10 years ago. She, several friend, and I went to Ireland during May. She is 84. She kept up with us, including walking about 2.5 miles in Dublin one of the days we were there.
Based upon my Mom's advice, however painful it may be, do the rehab therapy as instructed and do the "homework" the therapist tells you to do. It will be best in the long run.

Have had both of mine replaced, the last six months ago. Therapist told me to expect 8-12 months before it feels like your knee. At your age, be diligent on the PT and keep moving, you should be fine!

Praying for you and a successful surgery.
Make sure you stay 1 night in hospital and start therapy there. My wife had a very close call with a blood clot. Had she not been in the hospital already, it would not have been a good outcome.

I pray the best for you in your knee replacement. I had my left knee replaced when I was 58 years old. As a much younger man, I would think your recovery will be fast and complete.

Good luck with the surgery, pray everything goes well with it, the recovery, and the inevitable rehab to follow.
Warning: I was in the rehab center doing rehab on a hand surgery awhile back, when a guy came in who had just had a knee replacement done. The first thing they did to him was put that leg on a table, with him still attached to it, and pushed down on that knee until the leg was completely flat on the table. Somehow, For no particular reason, he did not seem to be enjoying that.

Surgery was a success! Thank you all for the prayers, fellow Tigers! Although in significant pain when trying to bend, I can at least put full weight on it when standing, which I feel good about for day 2. Getting around my house with a walker, but feeling optimistic!

44yo is pretty young for that surgery, but for the vast majority of patients this surgery goes well. It will suck for about 2 weeks due to the pain, but take your pain meds and take them exactly as your surgeon prescribes, use ice, listen to your physical therapist and do what they say and you will navigate that fine. In 6 months, Lord willin', you will likely be saying how good your new knee feels. Will say prayers all goes well!
