Obviously, we have gone after gotten two guys from the portal and every indication is that we offered the WR from FIU Rivers before he committed elsewhere. Have we offered or hosted anybody else that anyone knows of? Obviously getting two commitments from the portal is a step forward, but if we've really only seriously attempted to get three players, then the issue is still there. It just means we got a bit luckier this year than in the past, because I think we had at least three offers out last year too, but they just chose other schools. The web needs to be cast larger at both the high school and portal level to provide the balance and depth that we need at this juncture.

It could very turn out that portal usage is similar to NFL free agency where teams tend to overspend the first few days but then more shrewd teams take their time and make better value signings later once the big names have, in many circumstances, been overpaid. Hopefully we have our eyes on a few value guys we could bring in that would provide good bang for the buck. I wouldn't expect us to make any more big splashes however.
