For all you Karens, Todds and negative nancys out there, realize a few things. Are we where we want/need to be? No. To me, this season has been progress. Considering the last few seasons, the letdown, we have ground to make up. Our offense had stagnated, but shown improvement. But that's something that has been evident for the last few years, even with the coaches that got us to the 2 natl championships. We had 3-4 recruiting classes that were epic. We had 2 QBs that were "generational". Several wide outs that were high NFL picks. 2-3 defensive lines that beat down some of the "best" offenses ever seen (looking at you bammer 2018). We are not going to be able to do that every single season. Look at every major school. Everyone cycles. Even bammer, with Saban, is now human. Friggin Saban finally got out because he was tired of the new format. Dju was supposed to be the next TL or DW. Every major recruiting outlet had him as either the 1 or 2 QB in the nation. We know, now, that that was a major miss. You can blame the coaching staff, but they weren't the only ones who missed. He was recruited by every major college, and was still being thought to be relevant by FSU. Yeah, we know where that went. The fact that we did have 10 win seasons with him proves that our coaching staff was doing something right. Unfortunately, that sort of miss, coupled with the wr misses, really knocked us back. Who's issue was this? We have to lay blame on the staff for believing in recruiting services? Not grading players well? Not being able to get these players to play to their potential? I agree that Dabo went to the well too many times by hiring in house. However, in the business world, you do try to promote from within, as much as possible. Promoting internally makes sense for many reasons, but, obviously, doesn't always work. I believe Dabo is realizing this. That's why he's gone outside for his last few hires. He's got a few more to make.... Unfortunately, with the misses on personnel, coaches and players, it's going to take some time to recover. It's going to take some time, and success, to overcome those misses. If you look at the overall college landscape, as Dabo and Saban have said, maintaining those high standards, year in and year out, is very difficult. Michigan just won a natl championship and they're not ranked this year. They got beat by INDIANA???? Ranked 8????? In position to play Oregon, who hasn't been relevant for the passed few seasons, for the big 10 championship game?? Are you kidding me? Vandy, anyone?? UGA taking a nose dive and, possibly, out of playoff contention ??? Everyone's favorite pundit, Finnebuttt, claims that UGA lost to ole Miss because they don't have elite wrs any more. LSU isn't relevant. The only reason anyone talks about them is because they're in the sec. As much as I despise saying this, we probably do need to get more competitive in the portal. It's not the cure, and I'll stick with Dabo's plan for recruiting, but obviously, when you whiff on a dju, you have to find a reasonable fix asap. The portal isn't the place to go for the majority of your players, hello FSU, but it can't be denied that there are a limited amount of players that could shore up holes in the lineup. Success leads to complacency. I believe that a lot of the players coming in think that they just need to show up and that's enough. Does anyone remember the power rangers and what they did to win? Players going off social media to be focused on what they needed to do. Dedication to each other and the season. I also believe this whole nil stupidity has caused a huge decline in the integrity of recruits approach to college and life in general. Anyone who wants to claim that this season bears any resemblance to Bowden era, get a grip. We aren't at that level. We have ground to make up, but we are light years ahead of that group. Anyone who claims that we are approaching the West era, get out of town. Just leave now. Take your whiney, ##### ### pouting back to cootlumbia. You obviously don't know, remember, or lived through that debacle. The coaching staff tripped. Dabo made some mistakes. Recovery won't be immediate. It's going to take some time to replicate the 2015-2019 seasons. It's actually amazing. Think about it. We had, realistically, about 4-5 truly outstanding seasons. We might have been able to continue that level, if Nil, portal and tampering hadn't erupted. NCAA has no control. It took Dabo 4-5 seasons to get to the pinnacle. It's going to take time to recover and figure out the new landscape.
