He know blocks come from left side. They load up that area on defense. Why not set up for field goal and pitch it to guy to run for first to the right or quick pass to tight end?

I don’t think the play was for Mafah to run off the left tackle

I’m curious to know why Mafah didn’t follow his two lead blockers on that play

If it was by design, then it’s a super dumb play call.

Could we have possibly telegraphed the details of that play any more clearly?

We were going to run left. Everybody in the stadium knew that, not just because if the personnel & formation, but because Dabo is known for wanting to impose his will on the opponent. Imposing one’s will upon another is supposed to demoralize the other guy, right?

Dabo made a macho man gamble, and it failed. Thus, we not only failed to convert the fourth down (or to take the FG), but we demoralized our own team and inspired S.Carolina’s defense.
