Well the problem is that a lot of these schools have like 40+ walk-ons. I'm pretty sure Clemson has at least 25-30 without any fall tryouts. About 75% of them are just future real estate agents, bankers, and lawyers that will never see a meaningful game rep. If they cap the roster at 105 regardless of whether they're on scholarship, a preferred walkon, or a glorified water boy... you could potentially have to cut 20+ players to get under 105. The issue is that the NCAA has not issued a ruling about what this "105" number even means, and so coaches are left out in the dark.

I say kudos to Kenny Dillingham. That's a good coach trying to help his players. Wonder if Dabo has told our kids yet? I feel certain he's talked to them.
