are, which is "Opening NIL Bid Opportunities".

The Dukes of the world are now looking at Clemson recruits as prime poaching candidates. I totally get why Dabo wants to use NIL to keep his guys that have proven they are good players. BUT, more and more, it seems that policy is meaning we are not going to continue to GET those good players going forward. I may just be seeing the sky falling when it ain't, but guys flipping from us to DUKE is a new dynamic, one that don't give me a warm fuzzy noneatalltoo.

TBH, he's from the Greensboro area

It's not like a recruit from Georgia or Alabama flipping to Duke. Greensboro and Durham are about 50 miles apart. I'm sure their coaches used that and NIL offers$$ to sway him.

The true spirit and intent of the NIL is long gone or never really was around to begin with.

It's almost always and entirely been Pay-For-Play.***

"True spirit of NIL"?

That is subjective and undefinable.

It is what it is. It's here to stay.
It follows the time-honored American principle of "Let the market decide".

NIL was meant to reward players for making a name for themselves and getting some money since the school is making money. Feel like you know this.

Wasn't originally meant to be a recruiting tool for HS players that have never played a down of college ball or part of a bidding war for transfers that may or may not have been tampered with.

Bogus. NIL resulted from the NCAA...

preventing college athletes from profiting from their own NIL while the schools and the NCAA gut rich from it.

There were no stipulations in how it could be used and what's going on right now is calmed "entrepreneurship".

It's 100% legal under federal law and at least 31 states that have laws protecting it.

And...the NCAA and everyone if it's members will have to pay big bucks to defeat the costs of the House case settlement. That is karmic.

That's what I said, partially

There are stipulations on how it can be used, but they aren't being enforced. Like an NIL deal can't be offered to a player from another school that is not in the portal. That's called "tampering".

Noone said it wasn't legal. And 31 states have laws protecting what? If it was a federal law like you said, it wouldn't need the states to protect it. It was a Supreme Court ruling that forced the NCAA to allow athletes to earn money from NIL. It is state regulated, but there are proposed federal laws to regulate it.

And how has a HS player made a name for himself and made money for the college when he hasn't played for the school yet or even practiced? But we can disagree on this.

long before the portal or NIL.

No one plays college sports forever.

Some are just a little more of a medium term rental.

They definitely need to come up with some new recruiting verbiage for the modern, professional era of college football.

Right? I get that some people here are proud of their Clemson degree, and rightfully so, But Duke is on a completely different level academically. And let's be honest, most employers don't care where you went to school anyway....
