It hasnt been that long ago that we libs showed disdain for

The Catholic Church as an institution but now we’re suddenly ok with the church as long as it makes a political point against the other political party.
Count me as on being on the side that the Vatican, priests nor the pope has any business in political affairs til they get the churches affairs in order.

I never minded the Catholic Church. I always looked at them as kooks believing in nonsense.

Curious if you apply that to all Christians or even religions or just Catholics.

No judgement... genuine question. ... Because honestly, I feel the same as you.
I grew up Catholic and saw/heard enough during that time to where I'm not a Catholic now.

I was baptized Catholic as a baby, but I went to church at a Presbyterian place with my stepdad though. I am agnostic, but I believe all organized religion is bullshyt.

I spend as much time a year thinking about the catholic church as I did reading this thread. I do find it fascinating that in the year 2025, a bunch of guys sit around in costumes, insist they are a conduit to an imaginary super deity, and people believe them.

Pretty much the same. And much longer than a year since I’ve stepped foot in any church whatsoever.

By faith leaders of many different sorts who have outlines similar concerns, and I can understand the dilemma presented.
On one hand I don't want my faith (or more accurately the general body of people who hold much the same faith as I do) belittled by intertwining it with the politics of this world, as I think it much larger in scope than those earthly concerns. I certainly don't want it used as a carrier for the current modern cruelty espoused by the "evangelical right." And, to be consistent I don't expect that my political beliefs should be enforced under the guise of faith either.
However, for many folks faith informs their morality, and politics on many fronts seem to be driven by that morality. So I can understand some faith leaders feeling the need to be vocal about certain issues that may seem political to others.
I'm not sure theres a perfect answer, other than perhaps to try and separate what truly are moral issues and waht are strictly political. But I'm sure many folks would disagree on those lines being drawn as well.

That so many of the leftist have no moral compass when they generally have no religion
Their religion is being woke and finding ways to believe they are better than the believers.

One problem is that some issues that are clearly spiritual issues have been made to be “political”. When the church speaks out against those issues the church is told it should stay out of politics. Politics can not highjack certain issues and expect the church to be quiet.

If the Republicans stopped being so awful, Libs would like them more too.
