I'd like to see CV start at QB vs Citadel

I'd dress Cade out and make him the emergency backup QB in case CV is totally ineffective. I'd do the same with Antonio and give Randall and Stellato a bunch of snaps after getting their playing time decimated the past couple of weeks. Other guys who haven't missed a game all year that I'd consider making emergency backups are TJ Parker, B. Carter, Mafah, Barnes, and Terrell.

Garrett Riley as our offensive coordinator and make Dabo our emergency backup offensive coordinator.

I think the reps for the first team are more valuable. If we were playing at an elite level, I would agree with you. However, we still have alot to cleanup before the USC game and we saw what happened the last time our 1st team took a week off. We need at least 2 solid quarters with the 1's on offense and defense.

Our 1s definitely need the reps and I would hope they would be able to get off the field after a good half of play. But I would also add that if we have any folks that have any piece/thought/inkling of an injury they need to be held out or played as sparingly as possible. I am specifically talking about LB, OL, DE and RB. We need the backups to play as early as possible and rotate in. Mafah does not need to be toting the load in this game, when KAJr., JHaynes and the rest can eat and do a good job too. Same at OL, DE and LB.

I'd like to see Mahfah rested this week. I think he is worn down and needs iot. Plus the other backs needs some work

Totally understand the logic but we did not show up last time our starters took a week off...

Everytime our guys get a week off they seem to come back and play like they spent the last week on the beach drinking long island iced teas all day.

Makes no sense. Would be a show of disrespect to Citadel. Citadel playing well- cannot afford to take anybody lightly. We need a great game to build confidence for SC who is going to be all we can handle. We have to play a lot better(particularly offensively) to stay with SC. SC has beaten some good teams(some badly) and played others down to the wire. We will have to be at our very best to compete with them. SC is a WHOLE lot better football team than they were last time we played.

...and Pearman in the 2nd half.
Perfect opportunity for Dabo to do some of that development he preaches.
It also protects our thin list of starters from injury. We're going to need every one of them to stop the Coots.

When you start treating a game against Citadel like an intrasquad practice
Nov 19, 2024, 9:34 AM

that is when you set yourself up for a "Shocker" upset.
Starting the backup QB just because you want some reps sends a bad message to the rest of the team.
We should handle Citadel even with our 2nd and 3rd string but if you start treating a game like a scrimmage..watch out.

So what does it do if Phil or Cade gets hurt against El CID?

And can't play against the Coots?
There's a big difference between treating a FCS game like a scrimmage and protecting starters for the in state rival game.

Outside of beating terrible teams, what game has any of our starters looked great or phenomenal? The last thing they need is rest. They all clearly need to play the whole game against the Citadel.
