But you don't fire a coach at Clemson after winning 27 games, even if the ACC was putrid this year.
I'm not sure why, but we played tight in all 3 postseason games. No offensive continuity at all. The only time we played close to what we had most of the year was when we basically played havoc and pressed 94 feet at the end of the Louisville and McNese games. Just played, didn't think. With a veteran team, I expected us to play poised, we didn't.
Why? As much as I love what Chase and Ian brought to the table, and they were our best players, neither were true star players. In the tourney, you need true stars, or a guy who just gets hot like Chase last year or Devoe a few years back. Someone who can hit the shots that keep you in games. We didn't have that. Let's face it, we've rarely if ever had that. Hence, our history.
At the end of the day, I'm not going to complain about 27 wins, or Brad getting extended. The team is full of question marks for next year, but with the portal, holes are filled quickly. And we'll definitely need to bring in a few studs.
We're losing by Clemson standards two class guys who gave their all and became very good players, plus some other guys who had good years. We'll also likely lose some guys to the portal.
I like some pieces returning, like Jones and Dillon. I'm very interested to see Dallas Thomas. But next year is a huge question mark as of now, let's see what the portal giveth.
