the former mascot of the Braves. How the mascot was canned due to Native Americans feeling belittled by using this mascot and there is still controversy over the name Braves. Here’s the solution, change the name of the Braves to the Crackers. The name of the negro league team from Atlanta many years ago. No white people are going to be offended by using the name cracker which was a slang term that black people used for whites in the past. The mascot can be a saltine cracker. Problem solved.
The Braves went on a lengthy losing streak. The Chief would run out of the Braves dugout, do a dance around the mound, raise his arms to the sky and then sprint to left field.
The Crackers were the white minor league team in Atlanta before the Braves moved to Atlanta from Milwaukee. The Negro League team in Atlanta called themselves the Black Crackers. Your suggestion, in all its poor attempt at condescending humor, is to trade the current team name’s controversial history for a more blatantly racist team name 😂 Great work, I’m proud of you. I’m sure you were quite proud of yourself when you came up with the idea too
for any reason, especially not because of Chief Nokahoma, or the Native American who gladly assumed that role. A "Brave" is a mascot, embodying a fierce, honorable fighting spirit. Anybody with a brain realizes that's all it is, a sports mascot, and in no way defines the entire native American culture or reflects any disrespect.
Above all else, love and forgive. Understand that people who disagree with you are not necessarily idiots or your enemies. Respect the wisdom of the founding fathers and individual rights and freedoms. Always see the beauty and humor in life.
A “Brave” as “The Braves” have represented it throughout their history is an “Indian” as seen in all their logos through the years. I’m sure he had a fighting spirit. Personally if I were a “Indian Brave” I would be proud to be associated with a major league team except for years when they suck.
I tried to listen to him a little this morning and after about a half hour of talking about Kentucky Derby TV viewership, I had to change channels. I'm guessing he went on another hour on that riveting subject!
