we had the bases loaded in the 7th with 2 outs...."And there's another one off the plate...1-2" and then we grounded out to end the inning...So, I assume the 3rd base ump was behind the plate....

No. He was at first yesterday but the home plate umpire was inconsistent all day long, especially on low pitches and outside pitches. He could never make up his mind on either. Terrible plate umpire.
