ESPN cursed the baseball team

It wasn't the Savannah Bananas. It was ESPN. On Apr 24 they posted a front-page (on the college sports, page, anyway) article about the "Cheap Seats" in our stadium and how rowdy it is. That was the same day that we started the series at NC State, in which we got swept. Since that time, we've played 10 games and lost 8 (winning 2, for the math challenged out there) - losing four out of four series, including the Coastal series. I don't know how long ESPN leaves those stories up, but they need to take that one down - NOW! Go Tigers!

I’ve been there. The slumps absolutely stink. No one can put a finger on why. It’s superstition and group think. When you’re on a slide, it’s hard to break out.

We used to do some crazy psychological things to end a slump. I once got a Gatorade from a hot girl and kept the wrapper and placed it in my batting glove. Worked like a charm! I was slumping and went 8-10 on the weekend.

Our coach once bought in jock straps “blessed by the Pope” to pull us out of a slide. I know now that was all BS, but it worked. I’ve seen bats thrown away because they ran out of hits, gloves trashed because they couldn’t catch anymore. Baseball players are funny! Sometimes it takes superstition and voodoo to overcome a slump. Kinda like Major League where the guys bat was afraid of curve balls. Mine was too! Lol!
